[Heyman] The Giants are suggesting for now they are unwilling to pay down Blake Snell’s deal, which includes a $30M 2025 player option. Snell is in great form (.347 OPS against last 4 starts via @MLBNetwork) but if they maintain this stance, that will limit the field.

  1. So… Giants are unwilling to pay someone to take Snell from us? Hmmm shocking.

  2. It’s not that hard to believe…there’s no reason the Giants should pay it down.

  3. I guess this is seeing how far the market will go? There’s no point to trade him for a financial relief type deal and a bottom of the barrel prospect.

  4. I was thinking about this after the sweep, it’s pretty stupid that the plan from the end of the off season was to be a second half team and tread water until then.

Ray and Cobb for the 2nd half, Hicks they knew would gas by the 2nd half so he was essentially a stop gap for a strong rookie SP to come up once it happens. Snell is notoriously a second half guy, plug the SS hole with Ahmed whole a young SS gets into form.

Like why would you plan this way? Lol
