If Lopez is out, I wouldn’t count out Crotchet as a target. Fried is going out west, Crotchet is a Tennessee guy that probably grew up a Braves fan. We would need another lefty starter for 2025 too.
I agree with the gist, but I think the article limits the pool of possibly-traded players to artificially be only those with expiring contracts.
Bummer or Johnson could both be attractive to crazy teams, and if they want to pay a crazy price, I could see the logic. Our bullpen is strong enough, trading from strength is fine if that gets us a starting outfielder or some really promising young guys. I think we should keep Jiminez, he’s been too good.
We won’t be trading Morton, because at this rate he’ll be the only starting pitcher we have left by mid-august. Plus I see him retiring and becoming a coach / mentor, a Chipper for pitchers.
