The Buffalo Sabres reportedly had an offer on the table for Martin Necas that may have been accepted, but Necas informed the Sabres he wasn’t interested in re-signing in Buffalo. Per, Frank Seravalli.

  1. It’s just because he knows he’d be the 2nd best Czech on the team in a couple seasons

  2. Would Necas have been a good scorer for the top line? I know about the defensive issues but it might have been worth it to pick him up.

  3. GMKA is a good GM clawing out of a shit situation. I really hope we make it so he doesn’t get canned.

  4. If this report is true then Necas doesn’t want to come here and people are STILL in the comments thinking Adams can still make this work. Do you really want to give up whatever assets it would take to trade for him just so he can start day one thinking about how he’s going to leave all in the hopes that everything somehow clicks, they make the playoffs and he then changes his mind and extends? Some people on this subreddit are jonesing for a trade so hard they would give up anything just to see some even slightly splashy trade happen.

  5. The Ehlers rumors are out there but this is the first time I’ve ever heard us linked to Necas beyond a fan’s offseason wishlist

  6. How bizarre to buy out Skinner so that you can give up assets to replace him with a similar skill set

  7. Our local guys have said the Sabres weren’t calling Carolina about Necas so I call BS from Servs. Guy just makes up stuff for clicks. Drury made more sense as the guy we were going after since we traded for McLeod.

  8. Laine will likely cost less in assets and CBS would eat salary. This is the way I’d turn at this point

  9. Really strange move by Carolina on this. It’s pretty clear he wants out with the 2 years there walking him to UFA and I’ve read he doesn’t like the system. So the Canes now need to win it all next season or face the choice of walking him to UFA for nothing in year two. In a situation like that it’s kinda shocking they didn’t trade him somewhere. Not saying Buffalo but somewhere.
