  1. We’ll have to see the return but that’s a legit bullpen arm. We might have 2-3 more wins post-All Star break if we had Sims to go to after Martin and Slaten got hurt.

  2. Would have preferred a lefty reliever but I still like this trade nonetheless.

Edit: not sure why this got downvoted lmao I said I like the trade

  3. Anyone pretending to have heard Orvis Portes’ name before a month ago, chill out. If a 19.5 year old in the FCL you signed for 25k is the only person you’re giving up for half decent relief help in this market, that’s a huge win.

  4. 29th ranked prospect who is 19 and so far away. Even if he turns into a stud you do this 10/10 times. Sims helps our bullpen a lot

  5. Craig loves trading away extremely young prospects for rentals …. Interesting

  6. With this addition, once Martin and Slaten are back our bullpen should at least be competitive

  7. Paxton, Jansen, Priester and Sims is an A+ deadline for where this team is at right now. Need to get Casas, Grissom, Martin and ideally Hendricks back, and get Bello to keep improving…

  8. I heard on ESPN his ERA is 2.20 over the last 30 games. That would be a life saver for a team like us.

  9. Not bad, this is about the only move they have made in recent years that actually improves the pitching immediately. I know they got Paxton, but seems like they are just adding back what we lost. Kind of sad to say, but Sims is already one of our better relievers.

  10. Walks more guys than you’d like (4.7 BB9 career) but is a huge upgrade over Weissert and co. Hopefully they follow this up with good news re: Martin and Slaten’s timelines and our biggest weakness is looking way more solid.

  11. None of this has been flashy. But adding 3 arms for real cheap, im loving this

  12. He’s a good arm for today and could be an interview for a 2-3 year FA deal this off season.

Bullpen free agents are historically very hard to nail, this way the coaches get to see him daily and can decide if a contract is worth it. Small but additive move (and the cost in prospects is reasonable).

  13. I like it. Plus we are making deals in the direction of helping this team without giving up our top prospects. At least breslow kept his word. We may not be making the flashiest moves but we aren’t going back and forth buying and selling. Let’s see if he’s got anything else for us today!

  14. Nobody can complain about Breslow not making moves, the man is making nothing but moves!

  15. Hendricks is coming off IR and if we get Sims this bullpen would be looking a lot better!!! Got a few others coming off IR soon and as a team they deserve this cause the rest of the team is fighting!!!

  16. He’s better than Mark Leiter Jr., and guess which deal gets posted on ESPN’s front page.

  17. Reds fan here. I’m really bummed on the return. You got a good one. His off speed stuff moves a ton. Then He hits you with 96 on the corner. He’s had a bit of an off year for him but he’s really good.

  18. We should buy more significantly at the deadline if we can. This move implies we would be buyers because we are paying for a rental bullpen arm.

I don’t know if Priester is going to be substantial this season, so another starter could work. I also wish we could get a shortstop. Like IKF. Could consider Paul Dejong and hope he’s better defensively than he has been with the White Sox.
