Is the Milwaukee Brewers Front Office in “Go For It” Mode?
The Milwaukee Brewers did not make any moves on MLB trade deadline day on Tuesday.. Does this signal that the front office might not think this team is capable of making a deep run in the post season? We will talk about that and a couple of “pieces” that the Brewers could have looked at.. How is the rotation shaping up with the addition of Montas? Joe Ross did himself very little favors by his performance on Tuesday Night.. We will get to all this and more on this episode of “Locked on Brewers”

Pathetic trading deadline. Brewers settle for mediocrity
Brewers will lose first place Guaranteed. Arnold didn’t have the stones to get any better….
.NO RISK, NO REWARD
Dodgers spending their Money, no surprise there.
At least we will finally get a manager of the year.
I don't think it's about just claiming another player. This team operates differently than other years with Pat Murphy at the helm. To say this team can't win the world series is a slap in the face to the genius of Pat Murphy. Pat Murphy works every angle to get an advantage and he's gotten the most out of his players this year. The league isn't used to playing Murphy and this surprise element along with mixing and matching the right players in the right situations will catapult Murphy and the crew through the world series.
Who's ruled out of post season? I know Abner Uribe has stated on his twitter account he's preparing to be ready for the start of 2025. I'd say he's ruled out. But are Yelich, Miley, and Woodruff ruled out? If not, there could be some situations that work favorably to the Brewers in the postseason.
Let's look at our four competing outfielders:
All four are battling for starting reps.
Garret Mitchell has only 57 at bats but has a nice .790 OPS and a .281 batting average which are tops among all four of the outfielders. One area of concern is his 2 stolen bases out of 3 attempts. That doesn't project to what the other 3 have accomplished in that area.
Chourio has 312 at bats (2nd most of the four) upped his stats so he's above leage averages in batting average and OPS. .260 and .727.
Frelick has 319 at bats (most) and sports a .266 average with a somewhat unimpressive OPS of .681. Definitely one of the elites on the basepaths stealing 14 of 17.
Perkins has 266 at bats ( probably needs a hot streak or will stay 4th in current at bats handed out by Murphy) .252 batting average and .690 OPS with 14 of 17 stolen bases.
So, if the Brewers can stay injury free here, they have four guys that can be rotated in and out fairly effectively. Brewer Hicklen is ready to go if someone goes down. So, I like what the Brewers have and don't want to mess with it.
Without Yelich it doesnt matter what we do, we dont have a chance, its nice to be competitive but won't win without Yelich.
Nothing about ross being a starter excited me . I think we need to go back to wilson or put him in much earlier. Ross had 3 good innings. I think thats about he's good for . This is a bullpen team and they need to go to it earlier.
We need to stop going to the games maybe they will spend some money
Chuck we aren't catching any one lay off the energy drinks
It's sad losing to a losing pitcher
What scares me is we’ve seen this before. This year our offense is better but definitely not high level. In the playoffs, your starter isn’t going 7 shutout or anything crazy. You need offense in the playoffs. We yet again have the perfect recipe to have a 27 hr playoff run
I just finished listening to Baseball Tonight show on the deadline trades. 1 Hr & 3 minutes where they covered all the trades, bad or good. Not 1 single mention about the Brewers' trades. Not one mention. Amazing !!
Picking up big names has never resulted in a World Series Championship for the Crew. Personally, I like that they’re showing confidence in the young crop of players that will be here for years to come. It’s been a fun year so far. Edit: However, I think they need to extend the contract of Adames before the post season starts.
Who needs Fedde, we have Joe Ross. Seriously, this team isn't ready to go for it, which seems crazy when you're 7 games up and 15 games over .500. They have many promising arms coming back so I'm not surprised they didn't do better than Civale and Montas. We got a couple of band aids en route to another playoff appearance and probable quick exit. Entertained for 162 isn't the worst thing compared to some Brewer seasons of the past. Silver lining is that they didn't trade away any top prospects for a rental.
Can not make a trade if other teams are asking too much.
When I can watch a Brewers game and predict the at bat for a player, and be right way too much, that player should be sitting. Have a seat Rhys Hoskins.
Brewers should’ve traded for Brandon Lowe
