This is why the Sabres can never he good. Even if we want to trade for players, we can't get them to come here.

  1. Yeah well 15 years straight of being a bottom 3 worst run organization in the league will do this. I think people overreact about players not wanting to come to Buffalo the city. I really believe it’s more about the organization itself has shown to be utter poison to everyone employed by it. We remember when the head scout was crying at the draft being thankful that Kevyn Adams just isn’t a piece of shit? lol

  2. He’s going to regret that when he’s at home watching Buffalo go undefeated in the Stanley Cup playoffs

  3. Not sure it’s just the losing that keeps players away. Buffalo consistently ranks in top 3 of cities players don’t like playing in as a visiting team. Compared to other cities, Buffalo’s downtown is dead. Unless it’s a huge overpay, or your family lives in southern Ontario there’s no reason to even consider Buffalo. Winning might help some, but there are a lot of great cities out there that will supersede Buffalo–especially for people aged 20-35.

  4. No-trade clauses shouldn’t be allowed to be implemented unless a players has played for like 8 years. It leads exactly to scenarios like this where perennial loser teams can’t make any moves to improve by adding veteran leadership. Now I don’t really understand the ins and outs of it but it really just destroys parity imo.

  5. I’ve been beating this dead horse for a while now, this sub won’t hear any of it though. There
can’t be no move clauses or cities you can just say no to. It’s fundamentally a flawed idea in the nhl. There is a reason no other pro sports leagues write their contracts this way. It totally handicaps cities like Buffalo from ever having a fair shake.

People will sit here and scream that winning will attract players but I call total BS on that whole statement at this point. Buffalo straight up is not a good city to live in for pro athletes, there’s no question anymore. The Sabres aren’t just playing against 31 other teams every season they’re fighting their own geography too.

  6. I love how are the comments are about no trade clauses. Did you even read the article? He doesn’t have a no trade clause. He said he won’t re-sign here which for Buffalo kills the trade because why would they do that?

    Come on people, be better.
