[@CoachTomlin] Really appreciative to have some special guests/friends at practice today. Thanks to @RealJasonKidd, @NicoHarrisonGM and @LeVelleMoton for being around the last few days, sharing ideas and just talking ball. I love it.

  1. (From post-gazette.com) “As a coach, you always want to get better, and when you talk about the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tomlin is the best,” said Kidd, who coached the Mavericks to the NBA Finals this past season.

Kidd, 51, watched practice in a Steelers sweatshirt along with Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison. He told his boss he’d love to come get a peek “behind the curtain” at Tomlin’s process, and it turned into a three-day trip of sitting in on meetings, observing Tomlin’s press conferences and chatting with players on the sideline. He also was told to make sure he had an up-close view for the physicality baked into the backs-on-backers drill and laughed that he doesn’t think he could’ve been a football player.
