I think it'll be a great contract…. if he can stay healthy. GHG
i like the way we sign players 1 year before the end of the current deal , it makes them focus on hockey only
Great signing ghg
Great contract for the Habs providing Guhle can stay on the ice.
Kent signs players until they'll be around 29, which is about when you can still trade them for full value or resign them if they proved themselves. I really like the way he's doing things. Also, Guhle is a stable def, so you can pair him up with a more offensive oriented defense, and you'll be able to cover for mistakes.
And ?
I like it to me he could became the best overall defenseman for the Habs go HABS
Sub $6M/yr for Guhle is a bargain.
5.55 x 6 is very fair for both parties
Before I saw the AAV amount I would have thought 6.5 mil. This is a great signing for the Hab's
Marty St-Louis once said that the biggest hurdle to player development is the fact that a lot of them think they are better than they actually are.
The only way to take major steps forward is to have a correct evaluation of yourself. He said Kaiden has had this maturity since being in the league. He'll be a stud.
Next one to get the ''long term'' treatment is Kirby Dach, this year is riding on this. Next, Hutson. Next, Demidov.
Hughues is getting his young promising players locked for long to create an actual team. With a yearly rising cap, he already knows where most of the money is committed and can only gain from the rise.
He also has them staggered in stages. Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, none of these contracts expire together. It'll be the same for Dach once he signs his 8 year deal (maybe), and the same for Hutson.
Gorton and Hughues are freakin' geniuses. Player development often depends on the player, so they might whiff there once or twice, but as for asset management, they deserve an A++
Chef's kiss! Went Wughes!
Good lengths of contracts
We montrealer;s aren't looking for a stanly cup were looking for a dynasty and this is how we do it GO Has GO
This is a steal. If Guhle keeps the same play he has now, it will still be acceptable. If he improves it’s all bonus.
Great signing
Kaden is a rising star.
This contract is going be seen as an outstanding bargain. I think it also shows that this team believes in themselves and is willing to help maintain the team.
It’s a solid deal, he’s 22 and already a solidified top 4 and currently playing on the top lines. I’ve argued a few times that he’s already our best defender. I don’t know how many times I’ve yelled at the TV watching Matheson screw up, and although I like Savard, at one point I thought Kovi was more consistent mid way through the season. Basically what I’m saying is he’s getting paid for the player he is right now and he’s only 22 with lots of room for improvements that will make this contract age really well.
i like how since Suzuki signed his contract we (the habs management) keep signing players to team friendly deals with young players for long term. We do not know the future but this reminds me of the start of the last Boston dynasty with marchand and bergeron
Good move.
5.5 mil per year….yikes!!!!
Talk about a slap in the face to Arber Xhekaj who got 1.3 mil. Something is wrong here.
How is this a huge move? The huge move would be not signing him.
He Never did a full season.
That’s a big contract for someone who hasn’t proved very much. Let’s hope he lives up to it!
Paying your # 1 defenceman 5.5 mil x 6 is amazing
Hope he can stop rolling of big hits making himself vulnerable
Protect yourself Man
As a longtime habs fan, MAN it feels good to see Hughes on a such a roll. Honestly don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about our teams future 💪
holy over pay !! 😂
habs got fleeced lol
Nice move keeping that smooth skating Guhle
