The ‘Fro-truther agenda must be spread to all corners of the internet!

Curious to hear predictions on what centers will eclipse Allen’s deal in the near future. Here’s all the guys that have deals coming up before Allen eclipses 30 mil in base salary (2027-28):

2026 potential UFA’s:

  1. Turner, Gobert, Sengun, Embiid, Holmgren, Davis, Towns, Wemby. I think the Allen deal has a chance to be a better value than Turner, Sengun, and maybe Gobert. The rest of those guys are champ level first or second options. Still a good deal for Cavs

  2. So, I’m gonna kinda veer off course, but glad you made a post that was centered on JA’s extension *as a percentage of the cap* because I was thinking about doing something similar. When you look at it in those terms, it really shows how good of a move it was to get him locked in at the deal that was agreed to.

Let’s look at the contract JA signed in ’21 *as a percentage of the cap:*

    21-22: 17.79% ($20mm)

    22-23: 16.17% ($20mm)

    23-24: 14.70% ($20mm)

    24-25: 14.23% ($20mm)

    25-26: 12.93% ($20mm)

That gives us an average of **15.16% of the cap** over the lifetime of the original deal that JA signed.

    Now for the extension:

    26-27: 16.46% ($28.00mm)

    27-28: 16.16% ($30.24mm)

    28-29: 15.78% ($32.48mm)

That gives us an average of **16.13% of the cap** over the lifetime of the new extension. Meaning in practical terms of roster construction, JA only received a raise of slightly under **1% of the total cap** over the course of the new years in his extension. To put that in perspective, 1% of the total salary cap is *less than what would be allocated to a veteran minimum contract.*

It get’s even better if you look at the extension as if JA has a 5 year contract starting this season. Meaning, lets include 24-25 and 25-26 when calculating the % of the cap JA gets over the next 5:

Over the lifetime of the next 5 seasons, JA is earning **15.11% of the cap**. In essence, with JA locked in to this extension which runs through his prime, he is *even more of a value than when he signed his original extension in 2021!*

That’s some damn fine work from the FO

  3. First off, thanks for the shout out in the pod yesterday!

I think a top 20ish center will make around what JA makes in the upcoming years

He now represents the best non-rookie deal in the league

We’re lucky he’s who he is (like Ramirez on the guards)
