[Andrew Callahan] Drake Maye just audibled on his is opening snap of red zone 11 on 11’s checking into a blitz beater against pressure. He hit a TE in the flat with 2 WRs blocking downfield, effectively a screen play. Jacoby Brissett ran up and congratulated him after the play. Good call.

  1. The kid is going to be great it’s just going to take time and patience. You can’t draft a polished player with all the physical abilities. We’re used to Mac who was a polished player but lacked the physical traits.

Can’t teach his arm or build but you can teach poise in the pocket, footwork and read progression.

  2. He’s got the smarts, the arm and the athleticism

Only a matter of time before he balls out

  3. I hate to say this, but it reminds me of reports we got on rookie Mac Jones at OTAs.

Maye is a very different person, with a far better arm! And this kind of thing is encouraging! But… still plenty left to see, I guess, is all.

  4. Good to hear some good moves being made by Maye. Now I have to try not to overreact…

  5. Maye ATM is going to do some absolutely brilliant things and some absolute headscratchers. It’s all about the consistent things for him. I’m just happy to hear that it seems like Brissett is being a good vet.

  6. Give him a full year to develop like mahomes did. Not saying he’s mahomes but it’s not an indication they’re a bust if the red shirt as rookies

  7. Drake has all the tools, it’s only a matter of time until he puts it all together IMO.
