[Sixers Galaxy] The #Sixers are interested in signing Dāvis Bertāns with their veteran minimum contract, per @PompeyOnSixers. “According to sources, 6-10 sharpshooter Dāvis Bertāns is another player they are interested in acquiring.”

This tracks w/ what Daryl said on The Ricky. Can never have enough elite shooters, hopefully Nurse can more out of him in every other aspect of his game lol

  1. They only want to do this because he has amazing games against the Sixers but sucks against every other team

  2. He sucks but would be like the 12th man in the rotation so who cares. He probably rides the bench all year but maybe he’ll have a few games where he gets hot in the regular season

  3. I would rather have Morris, but if he gets offered more money than I’m okay with it. A couple years ago this guy was lights out.

  4. As someone who thinks we desperately need rebounding and defense at the 4, I’d be OK with this signing. It’s the vet min, and Bertans is a passable stretch 4 when he’s motivated and not playing for a garbage organization.

Feel like we’re going to move KJ, McCain, and picks for a 4 at some point during the season. We have way too many small guards atm (Maxey, Lowry, EG, Reggie Jackson, Mccain). Someone is getting moved, sooner or later

  5. This dude is yet another shooter who is useless in the playoffs. Maybe he’s ok to eat regular season minutes but would be underwhelming using a roster spot on a dude who is useless once it matters

  6. I’d give him 5-7 min a game. He’s really really streaky though. When he’s on he can launch from anywhere but I’ve seen stretches of his where he goes like 0-10. Obviously doesn’t add any rebounding or defense or playmaking. I’d say worth a minimum if he’s only playing minimal minutes.

  7. This is more or less what I was hoping for our last minimum to be, good placeholder with size/shooting to bring off the bench and when we make our deadline move he will likely be out of the rotation short of an Oubre-like resurgence

  8. I like it. He can’t rebound, but he’d slot in pretty well next to Drummond in bench lineups. Also, teams seek shooting at the trade deadline, so if he shoots well for us, he could very well net us a second rounder or two at the deadline.

  9. With Lonnie Walker still available, I’d stay away from Bertans. Heck I’d much rather take a flyer on a washed Cov than Bertans.

  10. I mean for the last vet min on our rotation this is a good deal. A proven stretch 3pt shooter will be useful if needed. He won’t get any rotational minutes without other player injuries. Terrible rebounder for his height but he is still 6’10. And again, it’s our last vet min. This is all assuming Covington is cooked which I think he might be 😢

  11. He’s a joke on the boards. We *really* need rebounding

You can probably survive though if you pair him on the rare bench unit with Drummond who is eating every rebound anyway

  12. If this is who Daryl said “No one has been guessing” than there’s a good reason no one was suggesting it. Single skill guy who only runs scorching hot or ice cold.

  13. I don’t mind this as our last spot since there aren’t a ton of forward options, especially with Hayward retiring. But man, Embiid may really average 10 assists this year. The catch and shoot ability around embiid could be insane

  14. He looks like a real life bobble head. His head is huge on the narrowest shoulders

  15. Eh, if this is true, don’t really love the use of our minimums this year. Gordon’s solid and is fine to have in a playoff rotation, but Jackson and Bertans don’t have like any upside, I feel like we kinda know they shouldn’t be playing in the playoffs. I don’t even love Bertans as a big minutes eater in the regular season like Marcus Morris would kinda be, feels like we have enough guys who can shoot and do nothing else

  16. I like it, gives the Sixers a lineup with 4 elite shooters if they want it. Maxey,Gordon and George with Embiid.

  17. On a vet min we simply aren’t going to get some highly athletic 3 and D wing. For a vet min I really like his fit. No that doesn’t mean I think he should get significant minutes or that he will be a major contributor or that he will be an asset in the playoffs.

  18. End of the bench guy, he is fine. Hopefully won’t see him too much on the floor.

  19. Please god no. I’d rather take Javonte Green or Jae Crowder, or one of the SG free agents still availible like Lonnie Walker or Luke Kennard.

  20. We should try and avoid a uni-skill player with the minimum, but if we have to go uni-skill, let’s not make that one skill “finesse 3 point shooting”. Would rather go for on-ball defense, or rebounding, or slashing.
