Los Angeles Angels Expiring Contracts That COULD’VE Been Traded: Pillar, Calhoun, Strickland, Moore

Los Angeles Angels Expiring Contracts That COULD’VE Been Traded: Pillar, Calhoun, Strickland, Moore

The Los Angeles Angels’ MLB Trade Deadline was not necessarily the most thrilling or busy, and many fans were left wondering why the Halos didn’t do more. Much of the “more” they could’ve done was trade the expiring contracts they have, although the pushback is that there simply wasn’t a market or value for these players. Today on Locked On Angels, we’re taking a look at the trades that were made on Deadline Day and compare them to the players the Angels could have dealt like Kevin Pillar and Hunter Strickland. Plus, just for fun, we’ll talk about where Tyler Anderson could’ve ended up as well! We’ll DEBUNK the trade value conversation on today’s show!

  1. Everyone seems to be using this fip value to explain why Tyler Anderson's value was lower than his actual numbers show.

So if your the Orioles do you want Trevor Rogers or Tyler Anderson? Given that Connor Norby is the price you pay.
Don't forget next year Rogers makes 18 million

  2. This was the year to focus on getting young controllable prospects in exchange for not only expiring contracts but also for players like Taylor Ward. The expiring contracts were no-brainers, but the Angels have never been found to have any brains.

Newsflash Trout is out the remainder of the year. I never thought this surgery was a slam dunk . So trading for prospects was ever more important knowing he may never return as an outfielder.

  3. I was there, the scoreboard in the 9th inning showed Angels due up for the bottom of the ninth up 4-2 Why? now i know why before the 2 run HR. Ho pium I need to watch a rerun of HR puff n stuff. These are the games that make fans get therapy.

  4. We are beating a dead horse, always talking about what could have should have happened in trades, and the reality is that the Halos will continue to struggle but can fix that in the off-season. The Angels need to go after 2 studs in free Agency starting pitchers, and for the remainder of this season, call up who ever it is they are going to ride with next season. Thanks for the POD Mike and John!

  5. Man, Trout wants to be out there on field what a bummer. He still has 6 years left on his contract. I have a feeling his contract his not going to age well but, I wish him all the best.

  6. A quick glance over at Spotrac shows an active payroll of $55.1m, with injured of $94.4m and retained of $10.8. Of course, the Trout and Rendon contracts are the overwhelming part of the injured numbers. Still…wow.

  7. The non-trades at the deadline wreak of Arte manipulation. We see this year in and year out. Arte continues to battle for the coveted "Worst Owner in Sports" Award. GMPM is just a puppet with no power and if he is let go, Arte will bring in another 1st time GM he can control. Horrible owner. Horrible organization.

  8. The biggest mistake by the Angel's front office is not trading with the dodgers or the orioles, who are trying to win now, that have a lot of depth in their minor league systems. We should especially be trying to tradie with the Dodgers, who desperately need to win in the next 5 years before all the over spending blows up in their face. I'm 💯 % sure we could have traded Rengifo and Anderson to the Dodgers for something good if GMPM was allowed to.
