I somehow forgot that Zednik played so long for the Caps before being traded to Montreal.

Holy shit, one more year on Yaroslavl or bleeding a bit more from that skate and he wouldn’t be around.
A trade that changed the face of the Canadiens, during the dead puck era the Habs finally evolved beyond the RucInsky, Savage, Zholtok, Petrov wingers and got a 30 goal scorer that had a very dynamic style.
It was pretty sad to see him leave but by that time the Canadiens were starting to develop a bit of talent and get a few scores on the free agent market.
Like a lot of things during the Gainey era tho … it was just bandages over bandages
