I hope that Austin takes a leap, especially since he won’t have Olympics fatigue
This lakers team, as constructed is better suited to win a Call of Duty Championship or Streamy award for best Podcast than an NBA title.
That’s curious since the only piece that’s changed is the coach.
I agree actually, we had someone cosplaying chuuya on the sidelines last year. If JJ is a half decent coach then I think we have a chance
I agree with Austin. We’ve seen them get close in 2023, and some key injuries as well as the same opponent took them out in 2024.
A better coach can yield a better record, meaning we wouldnt take on a top seed in the first round.

Idk if JJ can be worse than Ham. One thing is we’ll def be a better defense overall.
Prince minutes replaced by Vando/Knecht. Spencer’s minutes replaced by Gabe. I’m a bigger fan of Spencer but he was bad for us. So Gabe could be an upgrade too.
Internal growth by young guys, Rui and Austin entering their primes, better health from role players etc, and players being utilized better
I still think we are waiting on the Lauri situation and will make a move after it is resolved. We could also be waiting on the BI decision to a lesser extent but I doubt it.
Maybe we will get in on a Lauri deal as a third team to gain some other players. I think more teams will be open to trading without that uncertainty and we can get a move done.
I’m expecting small consolidation moves as Buha reported and or major moves but it’s nothing that has been reported. I would be surprised if we got Grant.
If he says we can compete for a championship then we can compete for a championship. Y’all forget we went to the wcf in 2023 with the worst coach in the league, I still believe it’s true if you gave an average coach like Steve Clifford this roster last year we could’ve made the finals

I agree. If healthy, Lakers have a solid rotation. Lakers are a couple Jamal Murray moments from getting past the Nuggets than who knows.
The NBA and the Western Conference feel a lot like the NFL or the NHL where financial pressures have created a strong parity. The Lakers are good enough to compete with anyone but they are nowhere near a favorite. With that said, I cannot think of anyone in the West that is a “clear favorite”. A nice trade deadline pickup, good health, and favorable seeding matchups could make the Lakers a legimitimate contender. That is a lot that needs to break right but I feel like it is like that for all teams in the West.
The East is an absolute joke.
