Players on Unusual Teams: NY Rangers Edition

  1. All the original six teams have been hard to narrow down to a list of 20 players but I think this one has easily been the most difficult so far. There are so many short stint popular players that have been on the Rangers I probably could have made 2 maybe even 3 lists. I expect the comments are gonna be full of people asking about players I’ve left off this time but there just wasn’t room for them all.

With that being said, let me know which omissions you think should have been on the list.

  2. He played too long to be on here, but Wade Redden had an entire rule named after him because he was so bad in a 2-year stint with the Rangers

  4. I have such fond memories of Craig MacTavish as a ranger … I guess it was mostly for that one memorable playoff run ..

  5. McCabe in that pic looks like he’d feel more in the right place in the stands than suiting up to play the game

  6. Lafontaine, the only player to play exclusively for the three New York teams. He once joked that he never had to change his license plate. lol.

  7. Bobby Holik, and Eric Lindross were weirder because they had long historic runs with our rivals.

Edit: Scott Gomez deserves an honorable mention too. God those dark years were dark.

  8. Is it a requirement that every dynasty era Oiler has to spend at least part of a season with the Rangers?

  9. Don’t even remember Pavelec on the team lol. Id argue against McTavish and Anderson. Pretty famous former Oiler stars we acquired to win the cup in 94.

  10. Surprised there’s no mention of Derek Boogaard, who played his final 22 games there in 2010-11. RIP

  11. My dumb ass was sitting here thinking “Wow, that’s a lot of random players in a rangers jersey” because I have zoomer brain and didn’t read the title of the post

  12. You forgot **Guy Hebert**?!

I’ll give you a pass on Kirk McLean because he was there for two seasons, but Guy Hebert was there for 13 games in mismatched pads! And you included friggin’ Pavelec?!
