  1. I really worry about the Orioles pitching. They need one more big league starter. Their middle rotation is not good.

I'm glad to see Holiday is doing his thing in the major leagues. I'm definitely a fan!

  2. Anyone think Eflin should be the #2 starter in the playoffs over Rodriguez? He's looking like a great trade pickup so far and pitching better than Rodriguez.

  3. Nice to see Slater & Jimenez have success. Jackson just looks like a big leaguer this time. It’s so weird, he looked like a boy last time, but now he’s like this imposing, formidable force looking all jacked n s***. Lol. He’s looking like a really, really high level leadoff hitter. I think he’s gna have a lot of 3 ball/3-2 counts, and get on base a ton, while being a constant power threat to either get us off and running like Gunnar has done, but also get those weavers after the ever-dangerous 2 hit and walk from the 8-9 hitters. He’s gonna be special. It’s really excited. I wish Kjerstad could get back in the lineup and figure it out too. What sucks is that Holliday is probably going to lose his rookie status this year. He’s already close to 50PAs, so 80 more is only 20 games and Mateo and Westy are both looking at returning the last week of the regular season hopefully. Colton is gonna win ROY, again, very quietly going 1-3 with a walk and a ribby, officially got the average to .250. Pretty sure he was at like .202 at one point this season. Things are really looking good, hoping tonight was a sign that Gunnar is about to get hot. Like his 4 homers in 4 games type runs where he’s crushing every mistake he gets. Mayo is so close. Got robbed of a couple today, I really thought he was gonna be aggressive his 2nd AB after that hard contact the first time up and he got a cookie heater center cut middle middle at 93 first pitch and he took it. With his pop I’d love to see him aggressive early like Gunnar. We have a lot of guys that run the count up, but you need a few westy/gunnar types hacking with authority if you get something you like first pitch bc pitchers that get ahead of power hitters expand the zone and now all of a sudden you’re not getting anything close to as good as that first one and you’re switching your approach to trying to square it up as best you can, hope it finds space and pass the baton. Coby is 6’5” with immense bat speed. It’s crazy how noticeable his bat speed is bc of his size. At 6’5” he looks like altuve when he gets that bat through zone. Short and quick as heck. They both have that two handed finish on the back swing. So mayo is showing signs of also being special. Cleveland is a really good team though, I feel like they’re much better than I felt they were during that 3 game series. But I think our big 3 are better than their’s, Burnes, Grayson, Efflin(who I’m officially calling Effy now)and our lineup is better on paper, but October is all about whose hot and whose not. I think Cowser and Jackson are going to be those high level postseason performer guys. Cowser bc he is so good at staying loose and he’s got so much incredible natural talent and baseball IQ, he’s going to beat good pitchers. And I think Jackson is one of those guys that is super built and over prepared for the moment that he’s going to be exceptionally comfortable on the biggest stages and he also is just naturally so good with so much baseball IQ. I think Kjerstad and Basallo have the potential to also be big postseason guys. One or two guys like that will win World Series, but 3-4 will win you a lot more October games. I think these guys are going to be really special, especially if we get Burnes this offseason. I think we are going to have another learning experience in October this year, but it’s going to lead to the World Series next year. That’s not to say we can’t get hot at the right time, and if we get the Efflin we got today throughout October it would be very possible. A lot to look forward to, got Burnesy going tomorrow, we’ve won each of his last 4 starters and 10 of his last 13 starts going back to May 19th in Seattle. He’s gone 5 or more innings every, single start this year and maybe Eflin saw something today that he can pass along to Burnes, but they both throw the cutter a lot. Effy is usually around around 20% on the cutter, but his first start with the O’s he threw it 40% of the time, but tonight he went back to throwing it around 20%(22% tonight)so maybe he saw something bc he was even better tonight than his first start. I’m really looking forward to Rogers next start bc he was trending the completely opposite direction of what happened his first start. So, I’m hoping that him and Efflin are vibing with Grayson and Corbin bc they’re not rentals by any means, to a point where I could see us signing Effy in ‘26 if he pitches this well or close to it until he gets to free agency. He never should have gotten pulled. He was getting better as the game went on. Stuff that like makes me hate the pitch count thing. That dudes a veteran, so much so that it was a different type of game for pitchers when he was coming up. He was a first round pick remember? He probably could have gone 9 tonight on 125-130 pitches. That was one of the most dominant 3K performances I’ve ever seen. Such an efficient game, even the homer that kid guessed right and caught a pitch in his wheel house. He was locked in, he Just missed a second homer. Gotta get Burnesy the win tomorrow, he officially has the best ERA in baseball after Skubal gave up 5ER on 7 hits yesterday, but still went 6.1IP and struck out 8 with 2 walks, so really not a bad overall game. The ERA was inflated bc he left the game with 2 and his reliever would allow both to score and then give up 4 more of his own without ever recording out by the time he got pulled. Either way, Burnesy has a 0.10 lead Skubal and Lugo in all of MLB. But they both have more wins than Corby so we gotta get him a win tomorrow to at least tie Skubal. Williams is a good pitcher, but not only has he allowed 3 runs in 2 of his last 3 starts, we also tend to do a lot better against better pitchers and then struggle against bad pitchers. It’s the weirdest thing in the world. I love it though, hopefully it stays that way in October. We are going to win tomorrow. I think tomorrow is our laugher and we finish the series basically identical of each other. I’m calling a 10-2 win tomorrow. Finish the series scoring 24-24 with 2-2 records each. I think this is the ALCS series this year, no question.

  4. I think it’s going to be Cleveland vs NY, O’s vs Astros and then we will beat Cleveland in 7 in the ALCS in a super close series, but they’re coming off a losing season last year with a first year manager so winning the central and missing the World Series by one game will be a huge season victory for Cleveland, way beyond what they expected in spring training. Whereas the Os are going to be riding back to back 100 win seasons and #1 overall seed and last years early exit and Houston being the most recent dynasty caliber team that has been a problem for us will make them a real momentum building statement for the club that is going to send us to the World Series this year and that’s pretty much the tailor made baseball Gods scenario. We got swept last year so this year we will sweep Houston and we will go into Cleveland feeling invincible and we will get a real reality check where it takes all 7 games to put them away. Which is why we will go into the World Series with much less momentum and we will play the Padres in the Fall Classic, but the series we just had with them will be a precursor of what’s to come. The baseball Gods will favor San Diego bc they’ve sold out hardcore so many times to win the World Series and they’ve emptied their farm system with this most recent sell out move at the deadline. So they’ll be rewarded with that one World Series but the reality will turn out to be that the two teams were going in completely different directions. While the padres sold out for the win, they’ll wind up having a .500 caliber season next year and not make the playoffs again the following year due to lack of depth. But the orioles will have a consistent streamline of elite prospects turning into elite big leaguers and the World Series loss will have the same effect as the divisional round sweep of 2023. Which is a series regular seasons where the playoffs are imminent a couple months into the season with the regular season being a formality for seeding. The Os will go to several World Series and bring home some titles as well, replacing the old guard of the Houston Astros. So it’s going to be an exciting season, the divisional race will come down to the last week most likely, specifically the series in the Bronx. We will finish with the best record in the AL bc of the race though and we will go into October without losing our rhythm so we come out swinging, but Burnes will get us through any game 1 rust anyway, and Grayson and Efflin will complete the sweep of Houston. One close game, one comfortable game, one blowout game. In one order or another. And hey, if we have unexpected success against Cleveland it will be bc the Padres blow it and choke, so we wind up drawing someone else, and we will likely win the World Series. We will be LA or Philly for sure. Arizona will almost certainly beat us. St. Louis would beat us. And it’s not about the team or the talent, it’s the baseball Gods and the storylines. We would beat Atlanta and Milwaukee. Anyone that is likely to not be back in the World Series the following season or for a few World Series, is going to beat us most likely. Middle of the road teams that will likely be back to deep October baseball at some point over the next few seasons is a team we will beat, with the exception of Arizona bc of their season story on the heels of a World Series loss last season. Their story being a team that was very close to being sellers at the deadline turning into a playoff team that will have to beat all the top seeds en route to the fall classic bc they’ll be the lowest seed or 2nd to lowest overall at best. With us being all but guaranteed to return to the World Series next year and for years to come, we aren’t beating Cinderella teams this year bc next year no one is beating us. But teams that are better overall with a high likelihood of postseason baseball the next few years is gonna be a win for us for sure. It’s going to be a lot of fun down the stretch, into October and then over the next 10+ years as an Orioles fan. Really great times, so much to look forward to, so many great things on the horizon and special moments. And all we have to do is sit back and watch the show as MVP titles, silver slugger, gold glove, Cy Young awards, and divisional, pennant and World Series banners return to Baltimore. It’s been a rough 20+ years with very little bright spots and we are on the cusp of having everything come full circle for all of us. It would be really nice if we could get Buck Showalter back at the helm before next season. It’s nothing against Hyde, it’s just the baseball Gods, the storyline and the main skill sets of Buck where he really excels. Buck is one of the best in the business at developing top prospects into elite big leaguers, at managing pitching in a game from pitch selection to bullpen usage, and making sure we are always playing extremely sound fundamental baseball at all times. Which all just so happens to be exactly what we need, and with the way Elias operates, they’re a perfect match. They’re both guys that operate with a really balanced blend of old school mentalities and new school mentalities. Utilizing expanded stats to structure the team/lineup, sticking to a semi-moneyball approach throughout the season with very little small ball, never give up free outs and always take the free outs, don’t throw to third. But then manufacturing runs and having a team built to do so when needed in October. That’s why Buck brought an international process to the team without the assistance of Duquette initially and why Elias developed an entire international division in the organization when he arrived since what little Buck could do, left with Buck. Then there’s the story line and baseball Gods, Buck has been fired several times after taking a team from the doormat to deep postseason contenders only to watch them win the World Series in the first year to three years after his departure with the team he built. Having a club that’s designed perfectly for his skill sets and the dynasty capability will be what gives Buck a couple rings before he passes the torch and solidify his well-deserved trip to cooperstown and he will do it with a team that he took from doormat to contender, but then got fired, only to be hired back as the guy taking over for the guy that was there for the rebuild, but Buck becomes the guy that takes them to the last game of the season victory instead of being the guy on the golf course while they win it. Then he winds up winning a couple and he gets the rings he should have already gotten anyway. Baseball Gods. The storylines are always the key. That’s why Texas lost two years in a row when they should have won, but then won it all after sneaking into the playoffs and running the table as the underdogs every step of the way, on the heels of a 100 loss season 2 seasons before winning the Fall Classic. They were poised to win the second year, but then got out-story lined by the cardinals after the largest collapse in baseball history by the Braves, 9+ game lead on September 1st, which led to the season becoming the infamous “Day 162 Season” where almost 100% of the playoff picture was decided based on the games played on Day 162 in both leagues. Then David Freese is essentially homeless as he is living on his friends couch during the most incredible postseason performance in NL history, driving in 23 runs including a 9th inning game tying 2-run triple in game 6 facing elimination which was followed up by an 11th inning walk off homer to dead center and capped off by a multi-RBI game 7 amidst a commanding and comfortable win to close out the series and the season. Nothing is more powerful than a storyline. Boston didn’t win for 87 years because of it and then couldn’t not win because of it. Same with the cubs but with an even longer stretch of losing years. Both of whom possess the oldest stadiums in baseball. You can’t make this stuff up folks. Boston beat St. Louis to end their curse, Harry Carry was a huge part of the Cubs curse and then the breaking of it, and Harry Carry’s grandson is the broadcaster for the Cardinals. The Cubs and Cardinals are one of the oldest rivalry’s in baseball, and longest. Every year there’s a storyline, more than one, and every year the World Series is won by the strongest storyline, even if the World Series win is what they needed in order for the storyline to be the better storyline, even if it’s a lesser storyline before the series. And our storyline is insanely significant at this point with Rubenstein taking over this year and what Angelos did to this franchise and baseball overall in the city of Baltimore. This series and this overall past week of baseball across the league showed us the postseason tables and started the mini-storylines of the season, the attributing storylines as part of the overall major storylines. We will know for sure after tomorrow’s games, but all the signs are clear at this point, you just can’t ever count out the wildcard storylines that happen once in a very blue moon like the day 162 season cardinals. Either way, lots of good things to come for the Baltimore Orioles, lots of good times comin’.
