I genuinely think this year is and always has been seen as a “let’s see what we’ve got” year and next year when the youngins have some service time under their belt and Woody is back we’ll be more aggressive. We’ve done well enough to acquire an inning eater reclamation (which we’ve had success with in the past – Lyles, Miley, Gonzalez, etc…), and get into the dance, but not strong enough to mortgage the farm. I know that’s not what we all necessarily wanted, but that’s my bet.
The trade deadline made this team worse. Significantly. Civale. Mears. Montas? Dog shit.
