Steelers and 49ers re-engaged in conversations mid-day today regarding Brandon Aiyuk, per league sources. As of Monday night, the 49ers-Steelers talks stalled. But there have been further conversations today in an ever-fluid situation that still involves other teams as well.

  1. Just let this bullshit end holy shit. We’re gonna end up giving up so much for this dude and he’s not worth it

Maybe nothing happens but it’ll be hilarious if a random dude on Twitter had a better pulse on this than all the insiders.

  3. What i am getting out of all this is of the 3 teams left, Aiyuk would like to be in Pitt. Not New England or Cleveland. What’s costing a lot is the contract not the compensation.

  4. I think Pittsburgh is holding firm on their offer and San Fran is trying to shop. I bet a 2nd and 3rd gets it done.

  5. Feels like almost a done deal to me. Aiyuk must have acted up enough that the niners decided to move on. Browns don’t feel all that realistically to me. I don’t see him wanting to be wr1 for a rookie QB on a non-contender.

When AB did this the costs was a third and fifth. Similarly AB needed paid (or forced a contract rework).

If we are doing Khan artistry my guess would either be a 2 for 4 pick swap or the AB value.

All depends if niners are committed to trading him now because it feels like we are the only destination he wants. Patriots maybe if they offering him enough money to go there which sometimes teams with rookie QB’s do.

  6. What I’ve got out of this whole thing is that Schefter is a hack who has no clue what’s going on.

  7. My $0.02 is that while it would certainly be an excellent “get”, the cost must be astronomical and I’m not sure mortgaging the future of the franchise which finds itself in transition (still) is the best tack.

    But I’m not Khan…

  8. Come on 49ers, just let us have him for like a 5th round pick or something. Be nice!

  9. Just gonna paste my comment from 8hrs ago

“My theory is that he still ends up with us. His two destinations of choice were us and Washington and we were way closer it seemed than them. Omar just has to wait it out a little bit to let SF warm up to their offer (which probably won’t include GP like SF most likely wanted). Obviously, there’s no guarantees but I think we’re in a very good spot ATM.”

  10. Let’s aiyuk, he’s a beast. Steelers gonna be nasty this year. Our defense is elite, we were just a good offense away from making noise

  11. The steelers must be super confident they are going to be able to flip Daniels or Moore for a decent pick in the next week or two if they burn a high draft pick on Aiyuk.

Still hoping Aiyuk goes to DC.

  12. He’s not worth more then a 2nd to the 49ers.

We would still have to pay him and he wants a top 10 deal. Plus there are other dynamics to consider, if he is out played by Pickens, Pickens will want a top 10 deal next year.

All of this is compound by the fact he is only a good WR, not an elite WR, which is why he is on the market to begin with.

  13. With Aiyuk, we also don’t feel the need to stock quite as much young potential on the backside, so we can bring in Martavis Bryant for another shot. Pickens, Aiyuk, Austin, Bryant, Jefferson, Watkins

  14. lmao just make this end one way or another already

then again if we don’t get Aiyuk, people are just gonna move onto saying we’re gonna get DK Metcalf or whoever else
