Pretty sure this exposes my bias but I'd argue 2012 Kings first cup run as a greater underdog. Entered the playoffs 8th seed and beat 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the conference.
Play Gloria 💙💛
Wish you would’ve mentioned the blues fan that placed a futures bet on them on Jan 2 and ended up winning a shit ton of money from their cup victory.
Still brings happy tears. My life is complete.
Great recap. Even better closing line!!!!
"It ended in Marchand's tears" i love that quote 👌
Before that Cup they were the best franchise in any sport to NOT win a championship.
I thought the LA Kings 2012 Stanley Cup Championship was the greatest underdog stories of all time, because they became the 1st No. 8 seed to win the Stanley Cup, the 1st team to lead all 4 playoff rounds 3-0 and the 1st team to win 10 straight road games in the playoffs with a final overall postseason record of 16-4. Even if that isn’t the greatest underdog story of all time, it’s definitely on that list. This Blues Championship was 5 years ago.
As a Canucks fan I'm happy to see them beat Boston in game seven for their first cup
What oilers tryed to do

That Patrick Maroon goal in Game 7 still gives me nightmares as a Stars fan.
would've made quite the push for the cup again in 2020 if not for COVID
Another banger from Hectic Hockey! Also sidenote: I'm a Hawks fan and the Blues are my #1 rival team, but I have tremendous respect for what they achieved in 2019.
My late brother passed away in October 18 2018 couple days after the season started, I wish he was alive to watch his team win it all that year.
Hey Septic Hockey, speaking of St. Louis, why not do a video on the failures of the St. Louis Blues just like you’ve done on Toronto and Buffalo? After all, only one cup in 56 years of existence is a good failure story. Try to at least show some semblance of journalistic integrity and consistency.
8:00 The Blues first Stanley Cup Finals was in 1968 against the Montreal Canadiens. They also were in the 1969 Stanley Cup Finals against Montreal again. The 1970 Stanley Cup Finals was against the Boston Bruins and was their last Stanley Cup Finals appearance until 2019.
Yess i remember watching game 7 as a kid and being so happy that the blues won and seeing marshy crying I was feeling nostalgic for this run🙏
Great video man! Got a good caidence and kept it interesting, deserves many more views! 👏
can you do a bruins story next? I'd love to see it as they are my favorite team. The way you talk about these other teams' success really makes me want you to do a bruins story on their success and late 1st round steals with charlie mcavoy and david pastrnak. Love the videos HH.
I went to SCF game 5 . It was a very controversial game. I always wondered if that gets mentioned in history. It seems like as time goes on all, it is sort of forgotten which I don't mind. It's cool that tarasenko and Schwartz who were drafted together seemed to have peaked together to help make 2019 happen. Would argue that draft year was transformative for the franchise.
I'm a Canucks fan, so seeing Brad Marchand cry was pretty awesome. thanks for reminding me Hectic Hockey! You're a legend
Wait until NJD win the cup
The Oilers would’ve had the greatest comeback story in NHL History… 😢
As a bruins fans this final made me stop watching NHL hockey all together and start watching European and Russian leagues for over 5 years.
🤓☝️ The Blues also made the Stanley cup final in 1968 and 1969, both times losing to MTL before there 3rd straight finals loss in 1970, to Bobby Orr. 2019 was there first time in the finals since.
LA Kings in 2012 has entered the chat.
1970 wasn’t their first final, it was their 3rd in a row
1968 was their first (68 sweep by Canadiens, 69 sweep by Canadiens, 70 sweep by Boston)
Lets just say i remeber this for the wrong reasons
As a sharks fan. Martin jones killed are chances this playoffs. Making the guys work harder to win. Eventually over worked and got beat up that the blues were playing the barracuda basically. So glad jones is gone.
But at the end of the day you have to have it to St. Louis for this incredible season.
My boys
That was such a great final!
One of my favorite Stanley Cup wins by a team I had no connection to. It was an inspirational and epic run starting with their infamous basement position in early January then reaching top of the mountain in June. This one will never be forgotten.
