Training Camp Day 10 Media Roundup @ Miami

Welcome to the 10th day of training camp! Will be posting a new thread each day showing highlights, player/offense/defense performance, and any general updates from our reporters at camp! If you see anything that stands out please post a link in this thread and I'll add it to this post to make it easier for everyone else to see and catch up!

Camp Updates:

Much less updates, reporters asked not to tweet play by plays, but I'll post some updates for those without Twitter and recaps when they're posted.

Updates from Daniel Flick:

Bralen Trice is back for the Falcons after missing yesterday due to illness. Raheem Morris said before practice Trice will go through warmups and then reevaluate, but they’d like to see him get at least a few reps today.

Very brief scuffle during special teams to start the Falcons/Dolphins joint practice. Looked like Atlanta’s punt returner (believe Rondale Moore or Mike Hughes) was bumped into after the catch in a drill designed for non-contact, then a handful of others (20-ish) piled on.

No one-on-ones today. Joint practice started w/ red zone. Kirk Cousins hit his first two — & only — passes in the red zone. Falcons had a lot of success running right w/ Tyler Allgeier. Both of Miami’s second teams beat Atlanta’s second teams. No TD for Michael Penix Jr. & co.

We have another full-blown scrum: Falcons entire offense vs. Dolphins entire defense. Tyler Allgeier took a run to the right and it looked like something extracurricular happened after the play on the sideline.

Falcons defense has generated some pressure on Tua today. Arnold Ebiketie has been really, really active.

Another Falcons vs. Dolphins fight — Ray-Ray McCloud threw a punch after being knocked to the turf. Another all offense vs all defense scrum. Long meeting between the two teams after before breaking to their respective sideline.

Dolphins reserve offense has hit a handful of big plays on Atlanta’s reserve defense.

Two things about Michael Penix Jr.: 1. He trusts his arm — and has the velo to back it up 2. He’s entirely fearless of any window or pushing the ball downfield.

Falcons backup secondary had hands on three consecutive Skylar Thompson passes — UDFA rookies Jayden Price and Tre Vaval and second-year corner Anthony Johnson made good plays on the ball for PBUs.

Falcons backup OL hasn’t been as effective in run blocking today. Important to note Atlanta is playing without Ryan Neuzil, who’s been the second-team center in camp.

Rondale Moore was just carted off the field. Towel over his head. Falcons just had a team-wide prayer circle. Heartbreaking scene.

Dolphins Reporter Travis Wingfield:

Falcons D came to play in this opening red zone period. Some big hits, disciplined in their fits, giving minimal ground. They had a sack and two tackles for short/no gain in the run game. Tua did have a scramble throw to Cracraft on the move that was pretty, and Jonnu just scored on a now throw.

Falcons sell out on Skylar’s run fake and they leave two receivers all alone in the end zone. Skylar chooses Burton, room service TD

Jaylen Wright with another one of those impressive mid red zone runs – he makes a jump cut at the POA and hits a full head of steam into a collision at the 3 – pick up of 7, not entirely convinced he doesn’t bounce off and score in a live period

Mike White is hot with a Falcons blitz, fires the stick to Smythe behind a super strong anchor from Sean Harlow to give him just enough time, but the pass is dropped.

I didn't see a lot from the Dolphins D in that RZ period, but I saw one Bijon Robinson run where he was dead to right with Sieler and David Long penetration, but he wheels out of it with a lateral jump cut that kick him out two gaps and in for a TD. That's why he's a top 10 pick

It's chippy as hell out here. We've had several fights on the far field. Cousins has had a few chunk completions – saw one to Pitts and one to Mooney. Storm Duck did just make a nice PBU on a deep comeback. Malk Washigton has two big plays. One a takeoff where he made a full extension catch. Another coming across the field for another 30 or so, might've been a 50-yard TD if we were alive.

It's been a rough start for the Dolphins first team offense. Pressure, check downs, we had one high throw from Tua to Cracraft who was open. Jody Fortson had a drop. Out of sync.

Tua found Julian Hill for about 30 yards on a swing route. Read the front side, free runner closing, quickly whips it to the back side for the big catch and run. Ramsey was flagged for DPI deep downfield. He got out of phase against Mooney, under throw Brought the flag.

After Miami shut down the Falcons run game all day yesterday, Bijon Robinson has a few runs where he's hitting the hole with conviction and getting through to the second level with a move or two.

Elijah Campbell has a beautiful PBU on a crossing route. Cousins didn't like his initial scan, comes back side but Campbell was driving, got around the back and poked it out.

Dolphins continue trying the run and not getting much from it. Backs are getting off their track/being forced to bubble and a fast, aggressive Falcons D has been there to shut it down when they try to change directions.

Cam Brown and Isaiah Mack burst through the line for a TFL.

Bijon with an impressive 10-yard TD down the middle. Next play, Duke Riley comes screaming through for his second TFL of the day.

Rondale Moore was the player. He did sit up after being carted off and removed his pads

Dolphins Reporter Tyler DeSena

Penix’s arm looks pretty on air this morning. Far hash corners are money

Ramsey nickel blitz didn’t get home and Kirk drilled a slant to London for a TD
Next play Long is in the backfield on a run

Falcons starting OL opens a hole for a Tyler Allegier TD against Miami’s backup DL. Ramsey blows up the RB late, and they get in each other’s face. Both teams trying to set the tone

Isaiah Johnson having a STRONG red zone period. 2 deflections on Penix passes

Tua looking over the middle, and 27 drops a pick. Looks like Tua tried to time it up to Achane… did not work

Falcons defense definitely getting the win early on. Pressuring Tua, blowing up runs and screens, and disrupting timing

Can’t remember the last time this Dolphins starting O had a positive play. Falcons defense is dominating today

  1. Sounds like Dolphins’ 1st team are getting upset after getting beat and going for late hits.
