[KFS] Bobby Marks: “If Leon Rose…says ‘Hey we’re gonna have you decline your option & offer you 3 for 100’ I would seriously consider taking that…$100M guaranteed…I think he’s priced right right now at 30”

I know Randle is a polarizing player in Knicks fandom…but man, the discourse surrounding him is disgusting.

Saying Randle should settle for 3 yrs. $100 mil and be grateful is beyond disrespectful lmaooo. I’m sure Bobby Marks doesn’t focus on the Knicks that much, so I’ll give him a pass…but this is a terrible take😂.

  1. I know we love and maybe overrate our players, but he is not a 3/100 guy. Agree, terrible take and even I am kind of offended by this

  2. Following contracts signed by players in Julius tier

    Pascal Siakim: 4/188 million

    Karl Anthony Towns: 4/224 Million

    Lauri Markkanen: 5/ 235 million

    Paul George: 4/212 million

    Bam Adebayo: 3/166 million

If the Knicks offer Julius 3/100 million he would absolutely walk after this season.

  3. JR can get more than that on the open market but the hard truth is that he is the most tradable asset that we can afford to lose

  4. Randle is gonna command north of $40M AAV, end of story. Guys in tiers both above and below him are getting more than that. Randle already took a pay cut to stay here last time, I don’t see him doing it again.

  5. He gives his reasons which are basically Randle’s age and struggles to stay healthy the last two seasons could be taken against him if he decides to pursue free agency. The fully guaranteed money is the incentive for him to take it.

  6. I think its disingenuous to analyze randle by only his play – at least for his knicks contracts.

Theres still value in rewarding him for the whole “you were the first dude to come here that got the cog turning” thing. In an NBA filled with paul georges, hardens, kyries, and KDs, we needed a julious randle.

  7. randle is in limbo territory of being seen as a faux primary option high usage player thats not conducive to a chip. hes a proven floor raiser but still gets no just due. plug and play stars are media darlings. randle just needs to continue to prove he can play off brunson and his value will sky rocket especially if he performs in the playoffs. i believe he can and will. and ofc he also has to prove he hasnt missed a beat since his injury

  8. Do the people complaining understand math and the salary cap? They’re not giving Randle a blank check that will hard lock them at the 2nd Apron. They want to stay under that at all costs.

  9. I don’t know the context but if he’s making this argument in the context of Randle knowingly taking a haircut in order to stay with the Knicks it isn’t the worst comp. 33m per season is what 7-10m less per year than he’d get on the open market and then would have to probably sign with a worse team? Considering the contract extension Brunson just signed it isn’t as crazy as OP makes it seem I think.

Also many others are bringing up other “comparable” contracts recently signed. Just because other teams makes terrible contract offers doesn’t mean the Knicks should.

  10. I find it amazing the disrespect a 3 time all star and 2 time all NBA gets .

He’s better than SIakum and they talk about him taking 3 for a 100.

  11. We have the deepest team in the league….

We have to pay at least close to acceptable salaries to Brunson, OG, Mikal, and our bench including Josh and DiVo…

For everybody saying Randle should be insulted, who do you expect to short change on this team or to let walk in a season or two just to make Randle happy with a fatter contract???

Let’s remember our playoffs last year without Randle and how well we did… now imagine adding a healthy OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges to that same exact playoff team still keeping Randle off of it… I’m just saying I don’t know if he’s in a position to demand the same money from this team that he can get on the open market
