  1. Good. Giving up a huge piece of the offense for anything but a kings ransom in a year like this is asinine at best

  2. This is what I’ve been saying. When the new league year starts next March they can just put a non-exclusive tag on him and he’s either a 49er in 2025, or they get two 1sts. There is no reason to accommodate much less.

  3. That’s some big dick swinging, I like it. Their choice not to I clue a player, fuck you, pay me

  4. I deadass don’t even care. My thoughts on the situation are the exact same as months ago.

That he goes nowhere and is a niner week 1

  5. Rumors are all over the place, but if the Niners want 2 firsts and the Rickey leaks are that no firsts at all are on offer from the Steelers, then it sounds like a deal isn’t going to happen any time soon.

The more time goes by without a deal, the more likely that Aiyuk ends up staying with the Niners this year. Pretty sure that Aiyuk can’t hold out from regular season games without catastrophic career consequences for himself.

Having Aiyuk be unhappy but still play with the Niners on a final contract year now seems worth more to the Niners than receiving a couple of non first round draft picks later.

Regardless of whether it’s first round picks or not, I can’t see a way it makes sense for the Niners to do an all draft picks trade with the Steelers in exchange for Aiyuk unless the decision comes down to personal relationships / loss of patience by Lynch and Shanahan.

  6. Lynch is crushing it. He understands their leverage and is letting Ayuik dig his own grave. He’s going to be scurrying back to the niners before the season starts.

  7. I like that. We’ll take George Pickens. No? Ok, we’ll take two 1st’s and a player. No? Ok our player is on his fifth year option, we’ll just keep him.

Let someone offer to overpay, if not, we have a player entering his peak seasons, for half the price of his peers, and it’s a contract year so he’s not going to slack.

It’s hardball, but the niners hold the cards. I want to see BA get paid, but this is what being a 1st round pick means under the current cba.

  8. This makes a lot more sense. You want them to overpay cause aiyuk has less leverage here. Sure he can sit out, but that hurts him more than the team. If he doesn’t play for a season, what team is gonna offer him 30 mil next season? He’s just gonna end up hating the 9ers and getting 25 mil elsewhere lol.

  9. Two first round picks is a great haul but doesn’t help us this year unless we can use that for a trade

  10. Don’t even like us doing business with the Steelers but that’s just me and at least they’re in the AFC

  11. Didn’t the Steelers say no firsts all the way back in May? I don’t understand what they’re spending time talking about or why trade talks even started when there’s such a major impasse.

I wonder if this whole thing is performative to mess with BA’s head. They knew he wouldn’t go to the Patriots and they know the Steelers won’t budge on what they want, so they can say “see… we tried to do right by you but nothing worked”.

  12. i mean, no one is gonna give someone 2 1st’s just for the right… to pay a WR $30M per

no one would even want to give up 1 honestly

49ers are forcing him to play on his 5th year, sit out, or… sign an extension with them to stay. those are his only 3 options now

  13. As a pats fan, I’m a very grateful we didn’t go through with our offer. I’m sure our 2025 FRP was on the table and that would hurt us as a rebuilding team. BA sounds like a diva. Wish he’d care about winning and shoot for a Super Bowl victory with you guys.

  14. Just stay BA. Your hand is being forced. Better off here anyway with the rest of the YAC Boyz. Even though the state income tax is off the charts, the weather is always better in Cali.

  15. i swear, if BA isn’t traded before the season or he doesn’t sign an extension, and we have to hear all this during the year, i’m going to be *SO* annoyed. i’ll still watch the games though, it’ll just be under protest.

  16. It makes no sense for a team with an open win now window to trade him just for the sake of trading him if the offer isn’t practical. Especially when Aiyuk has minimal leverage in the whole matter. A team trading for him is going to have to make a deal that provides immediate value for 2024 along with 2025 draft capital. And I can understand the reluctance of other teams to part ways with all of that.

This isn’t the NBA where he could pull a James Harden to force his way out. He hasn’t secured that long term bag yet either so acting out and pulling a bunch of problematic stuff isn’t in his best interest.

Outside of them reaching a long term deal. If he wants to be traded and wants the 49ers to accommodate said trade desires, the most logical path is going to be for him to just suit up and handle business this season and them to revisit trade talks in the offseason when that 2025 draft capital will have a lot more value. 2025 draft capital right now does no good for 2024. Come the offseason with some of their upcoming cap issues, that potential draft capital will be much more valuable.
