Locked On Braves POSTCAST: Atlanta Braves latest slide reaches four after tough loss to Milwaukee

The Atlanta Braves have had their fill of frustrating losses this season, but were served yet another by the Milwaukee Brewers in an 8-5 defeat on Wednesday at Truist Park.

Grant McAuley and Jake Mastroianni of Locked On Braves discuss the uncharacteristically strange outing for Chris Sale, the inconsistent strike zone which only fanned the flames for the Brewers while simultaneously contributing the fizzle for the Braves in this game, and the latest losing streak which sees Atlanta sliding in the postseason standings. All of that, a check on a couple of injured Braves and a preview for Game 3 of the series on Thursday.

  1. Braves faced Pierce Johnson when he was in Colorado. Had a good Curveball!!. So, they had to get him! YOU CAN'T BE SUCCESSFUL WITH ONE PITCH, OVER & OVER!!

  2. Do you guys really want this team to make the postseason? Really!? Why? So we can get embarrassed in the playoffs again. I rather not make the playoffs as bad team and injuries. But I don't want a Bad team (braves are) to get embarrassed in the playoffs more humiliation for our team. Nope! Lose now and get ready for next year.

  3. WHY DOESN'T ANYBODY IN MEDIA QUESTION SNIT PUTTING A LEFTY IN A TIE GAME WITH 2 RUNNERS ON BASE, TO FACE 5 RIGHT HANDED BATTERS DUE UP? (4RH & 1 SWITCH HITTER!)

  4. I’m a daily follower of your podcast and have immense respect for your work. However, as a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan, I feel compelled to point out a few concerns regarding the objectivity of your commentary. From the start of the season, it was evident that the Braves’ offense was struggling. Yet, for over two months, you attributed this to changed baseballs, despite other teams not facing similar issues. Worse still, you blamed the cold weather for the offensive woes.

While I respect your insights, it’s crucial for you to be more objective. Now that the offensive problems persist and there are no more excuses left, you’ve become more critical. I expected this level of scrutiny from the beginning, rather than empty excuses that undermine your credibility. It would be great if you could be more direct in your critiques, especially towards players like Olson and Coach Snitker.

Keep up the good work, but let’s aim for more honest and straightforward analysis.

  5. I honestly feel like we are still better than at least 25 teams and that’s not to say that we can’t beat those other 4 teams in a series ! We could beat any team just depends on who’s turned on . We have a lot of guys that are struggling that are capable of getting things going.

  6. Hope isn't a strategy. This team is under .500 since the calendar turned to May. The injuries are too much, and the spirit is faded; they are who they are at this point. They're not out of it, but if the Braves sneak into the postseason, I see them getting easily bounced like the Fish of '23.

  7. The umpiring was just atrocious. When you’re in a bad run of games, these kind of things tend to happen…one particular pitch that he called a strike was about 4 inches of the plate! I also felt the disappointment by Braves greats calling the game which is sad to see

  8. This is so interesting. My neighbors cat predicted that at end of April Phillies would lead and Braves would be tied with the Mets for second place. Now in August the prediction is being fulfilled.

  9. Time to prepare for2025! AA punted not getting anyone at the trade deadline! This team is just bad! Every team has injuries! At what point do we just say the team is bad!

  10. Doesn't really matter what you get out of Michael Harris, because Rosario has only produced a 22 wRC+ in his time here and far poorer defense than Harris will ever produce. 24 games and Rosario has been a -0.7 fWAR, that's pretty terrible, anything will be an upgrade over him at this point.

  11. If the Braves can hang on for a few more games and keep close Michael Harris should be back for end of giants series. He would be like trading for a good player. The uplift it should give the Braves with a gold glove type centerfielder with speed.

This is what the Braves have been lacking all year is speed and base stealing. He changes the line up so much. He was the spark in 2022

He is young enough; cocky / confident enough that could be what the team needs.

  12. Arcia, the entire outfield , Olson !! , elder With this performance they should not even been playing professional baseball !! Embarrassing how so many bad baseball player are able to make it , the general manager did nothing to improve the team !! The manager personally he doesn’t have the balls to seat a player that is not performing well, as a brave fan , I prefer to watch San Diego in the playoffs rather than this boring Braves !!
