  1. When I was 12, the Habs alumni came to our little town of Shawville to play our local men's team. My father, somehow, knew Rocket Richard, and I met the man between the first and second period and he bought me a hot chocolate and told me he should take me home to his wife who'd love me. During stoppages, he'd chat with my father. I'm 56 now and still remember it clearly. I always wondered why Ottawa alumni don't have games like that on occasion (if they do, please invite Shawn McEachern so I can finally meet him). It's great for older fans to remember seeing their favourite players, but it also builds such great memories for new fans. Which helps the current team. After meeting The Rocket when I was 12, I followed Montreal for years, and when I was old enough, would go to fan events in Montreal by bus, went to a few games, saw Montreal in the 80s play an exhibition game against Pittsburgh in Hull. These are things I will never forget, and I tell my grandchildren about them.

  2. Michael is the best possible outcome, when it came to this process. Finally an owner who gives a damn about the fans. Change dosen’t happen overnight, but definitely going in the right direction.

  3. Great interview as always!
As for Carkner… I'll never forget his triple OT goal in the playoffs. Same series where he, Andy Sutton, Anton Volchenkov, and Filip Kuba were all laying the boom. It's etched into my mind forever

  4. Mr Andlauer is best in class ownership and I am extremely proud to have him represent this franchise and can’t wait see this team on the ice this season!

  5. Rossetti Architect in Detroit Michigan was the designer of the arena in Kanata. Bruce Firestone or Cyril Leeder can confirm this as they were the ones filing the planning applications for the site development with Kanata and RMOC. I was a member of Kanata Planning staff at the time and I recall them saying they liked Rossetti's design of the Palace at Auburn Hills near Detroit because of the good site lines and that was a reason for them hiring Rossetti.
It would be an interesting interview with Bruce or Cyril to hear them speak of the challenges of getting the approvals in place for the arena, such as the new interchange with Highway 417 involving MTO as well as dealing with Ministry of Natural Resources as to whether or not the Carp River was a navigable waterway!
