  1. Let me know your thoughts on this big news…
Also I didn’t explain the draft pick trade correctly…
    To Pens
    '25 3rd (from OTT)
    '26 2nd

    To Blues
    '25 2nd (originally STL)
    '26 5th

  2. Bold move by the Blues. Talk about putting the pressure on the Oilers. As for the players, they are going to be happy either way this goes. 4.6 million for Broberg? He's got to be smiling.

  3. I'm happy someone signed NHL RFAs. This should happen regularly. Broberg is basically 1st round/8th overall in 2019 for a 2nd round pick. Holloway is 1st round/14th pick in 2020 for a 3rd round pick. STAN BOWMAN HAS BAD KARMA AND DESERVES THIS. I love the Oilers players and Coach Paul Coffey but STAN BOWMAN SUCKS. The old Blues vs Blackhawks rivalry still has bad STAN BOWMAN blood linking the teams with the Oilers. Basically the Blues are trading a 3rd and a 2nd for 2 high 1st rounders. The next 7 days should be interesting. HAHAHA Bowman.

  4. Smart move by the Blues Doug Armstrong for sure, to 1 force the Oilers make some tough decisions early on in these players careers & in particular weaken the Oilers depth chart. The offer sheet draft pick compensations are a joke considering where both players were drafted & time & costs the Oilers have already made in developing them. If I were the Oilers I'd match the Blues offer sheet then trade Kulak & Ceci and put Kane on LTIR and wait until later to do any additional moves that might be needed. 🤔 Was Doug Armstrong bored or going after Bowman or trying to get something for basically nothing meanwhile significantly hindering a rival western conference opponent. Maybe all of the above.😂

  5. Listen both Broberg and Holloway are young but are not game breakers if both walk it’s not the end. Don’t forget Broberg spent most of his time in the minors and wanted a trade, Holloway is not a game changer is skill level is a third to forth line and not without injuries! So I say let them walk use the Money for free agency and get what you need for a cup run. There’s replacements for Broberg and a couple young guys in the minor’s to replace Holloway and cheaper!

  6. Bold move and smart move. Really make Edmonton think about this.
Edmonton is a team that is expected to make it deep into the playoffs again next year. With 2 of the best players in the world saying they would take a bit of a friendly deal on their next contracts, it’s smart for other teams to attack Edmontons cap space.

  7. The drama of it is exciting, but considering how many UFAs are still out there, offer sheeting guys just seems like a move to cause problems for a team or management group rather than a way to obtain players.
I wouldn't be surprised if most GMs see it that way, which is why it doesn't happen often.

  8. NHL GMs are by far the laziest in all sports leagues. This is a nice suprise.. hopefully, this wasn't planned just to get Leon draisaitl signed to free up money .. but I think it would screw the oilers over now ..

  9. As an oilers fan I think you gotta get rid of Broberg.. could go terribly wrong down the road but ur essentially gambling on a guy with 10 decent nhl games to be a top 4 dman for the next 2 years on an 82 game schedule.. unless they know exactly what they have in Broby I don't think it's worth the gamble unless you dump Ceci.. as for Holloway you gotta think they have players in the organization that can step in and reproduce what Holloway can do for you(savoie lavoie jarventue).tough spot for bowman I would be willing to bet that one of the 2 come back and I think it completely depends on how high they are on broberg becoming a consistent top 4 dman.. with the way the oilers d core is constructed that top pair stays exactly the same with ekholm and bouch which leaves a second pair with nurse on the left side. If you're paying 4.5 for Broberg you're not putting him on a pair with ceci and you're certainly not going with the nurse and ceci experiment again. This leaves a slot on the right hand side on the second pair meaning Broberg would be expected to play his offhand side and play it well. I look at it like a poker hand.. Signing Broberg is like going in with a pair of clubs. Every once in awhile it pays off but for the most part it's a losing hand. If I'm bowman I'm letting St. Louis take what they see in Broberg and maybe keep holloway at 2.2. If Kane goes on LTIR which seems likely now you can run a decent dcore up until the deadline with a couple bucks in cap space and a new second round pick.. that's when you can evaluate and see what's being shopped around. Unless you're convinced Broberg will be that guy you don't touch it. And I can promise you that if they sign Broberg and he starts sitting in the press box by game 15 this is going to look really ugly for the short term atleast. I think the move by Armstrong was really smart and really puts the oilers management in a tough spot. Apologies for the thesis here I think any way you slice this there's an argument both ways.

  10. I could understand offering a contract to one player but not two on the same team. That’s asking for payback or even a preemptive strike from another GM. On the other hand maybe the Oilers deserve it for hiring Bowman. Cheers from Ottawa 🍁

  11. Boooyyyyaaahh Mike!!!!!
    Finally some excitement.
The offer sheet rule exists and the teams have a right to do an offer sheet….it's that simple!!!!
Other GMs get pissed at the GMs tendering the offer sheet but too bad.
I'm waiting for Habs to offer sheet Swayman….😂😂😂
