Mailbag: Steve Kerr helped Jayson Tatum on purpose? Joe Mazzulla Boston Celtics player/coach?

We open up the mailbag again (JohnKaralis.com/mailbag) to answer questions about Steve Kerr helping Jayson Tatum by benching him on purpose, NBA player salaries, and turning the NBA Cup into a 3-on-3 tournament. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal gets into that, retired players competing in Olympic 3×3, a legend duckboat for future championship parades, and Joe Mazzulla as Celtics player/coach.

  1. Joe was a Hooper in college. I wonder how his life would’ve been had he chosen to enter the NBA, but we may never know. I am so glad that he did not decline that Celtics coaching position offered by Danny Ainge years ago. Danny had no interest in hiring Joe to be the head coach of the Utah Jazz. They made the right move by hiring Will Hardy to be the coach. You worked out in the end for both parties.

  2. As you said, John Brad was not going to hire any of Ime’s guys to coach the team or find a available head coach. He picked Joe because he said from day one that he was my guy.

  3. This is now the official start to Tatums prime. Already a HOF lvl career before starting his prime is wild. The best of Tatum is yet to come and no doubt in my mind he and the celtics are destined for multiple titles. Special player and im jus here enjoying the ride and see what heights he and JB can reach
