BREAKING TRADE: Oilers Trade Cody Ceci to San Jose! | Trade Reaction and Analysis!
Welp, just 10 hours after I uploaded a video trying to figure out if Cody Ceci was tradeable or not, the #oilers end up trading him to the San Jose Sharks along with a 3rd round pick for RD Ty Emberson. After the offer sheet situation from the St Louis Blues the Edmonton Oilers hands were tied and with today’s deals (trading for Podkolzin earlier in the day) I believe Edmonton will be matching the offer sheet for Philip Broberg but letting Dylan Holloway walk. However this is not confirmed this is just me speculating. What do you think about this trade for the Oilers? Are you happy to see Ceci finally moved? With Kane on LTIR and one cheap player sent down to Bakersfield, they can match both offer sheets and still be cap compliant.
I’m excited to see if Emberson can come in and thrive on a third pairing role in Edmonton, this has the potential to be a great trade
Don’t like Broberg on the right side, not at all. I know. Robert is the better one to sign from the offer sheet, but totally sucks because he’s not with 4 million dollars. I liked Ceci, to a point, but wish him well. Hope these new guys that we got today pan out. Really liked Holloway so him leaving is going to sting. I love the Sharks for trading for Ceci because we really needed to trade him, and it wasn’t looking good.
KK coached Emberson in Hartford 2 yrs ago. Emberson will be playing in Edmonton this season.
Broberg has made it clear that he doesn’t want to be in Edmonton for whatever reason. I’m wondering if Oilers might be working on a deal where they sign Broberg to keep St Louis from stealing him and then maybe trading Broberg to another team for a decent defenceman.

Emberson might be a good fit, and adding Broberg being retained makes this a good move for the Oilers. I hope they can keep Holloway as well, as I hate to see the Blues come out ahead in this move. Not the first time they have tried to pull this kind of stunt.
