literally a one for one trade of Holloway for Podkolzin at this point
Kinda surprised Vancouver took a 4th for him.
He’s a young player with a play style that as history tells us usually doesn’t pan out until the mid 20s, so it’s odd they were good with shipping him out for a 4th rounder especially since he isn’t in line to get paid any time soon with how he has played.
That said, this is a total Stan Bowman move to let Holloway walk.
“He wants money and isn’t one of our core players? Meh, fuck em.”
Podkolzin is a fine replacement, which I will say for Edmonton is a major relief considering you guys are apparently getting early 2010s Stan Bowman and not mid 2010s Stan Bowman. He’s not gonna kill the team just yet.
This is… probably a good swap for them (Holloway out, Podkolzin in). A better defensive player who hits a lot and they move up a round in the draft.
Hate to see him leave but realistically would’ve never gotten a fair shot this year
Not sure if this trade will age well. $1m for 2 season is rather good deal for EDM, considering 4th rd pick (which is close to 5th round).
Yes we have lots of forward additions but injuries happen and podz have been working hard to fit Tocchet’s system.
Thought Alvin’s comment about making room for upcoming talents include Podz
