Oilers offer sheet conundrum ft. Tyler Yaremchuk
The Oilers expected to wait out Broberg and Holloway until September, and bring the RFAs back on cheap deals… but the St. Louis Blues have thrown two huge wrenches into that plan. Tyler Yaremchuk of @Oilersnationdotcom & @daily_faceoff joined the show today to dicuss.

August is a little late to have RFAs still out there. I know they went to the finals, but you have to get this stuff wrapped up or someone else will swoop in.
Why do you call it predatory when it's a team that didn't use up all its cap vs a team who is over the cap. It's a smart play and oiler fans look dumb for being upset about it and calling the move dirty or predatory. Offer sheets keep teams like Edmonton honest
4th round pick to take ceci? Yeah in dont think so buddy itโs going to move to a 2nd if not they can keep him lol
Fxxx the Blues. Fxxx That organization
of course Broberg worth 4M and Bouchard 8M when Nurse signed 9.5M. No one care play with baby Mcdavid salary worth 13M
Kind of interesting why this hasn't happened to Detroit with their two big unsigned players
This Tyler guy is a fool. He talks about why would Holloway sign in StLouis he's going to play with Leon. That must be why the Oilers signed Arvidsson and Skinner. These guys asked for a raise and got the RFA squeeze. They're getting more than double what they would've gotten in Edmonton and this guy is going why. After the deals their qualifying offers are going to be bigger as well so either they get more money or they get to sign wherever they want to. StLouis has some decent players and there will just as much if not even more opportunities for these players. The Oilers are making all the wrong moves. They're getting weaker not stronger. They're getting shorter not taller. The Oilers aren't going to be powerhouse next year mark my words.
Tyler is a moron. Holloway is going to get significant more minutes in St Louis. Oilers have low balled both these players for years! They deserve what they are getting. St. Louis is up and coming Tyler iOS just a homer moron
This should happen more often . Stop the GMs from taking the summer off and pay these guys.
๐๐๐ low ball a guy in your top 4 defense get burnt ๐๐๐ looks good on bowman ๐๐๐
As long as leon and Connor are happy…
It will now cost 2nd and a 3 rd to take Ceci no oneโs doing oilers any favors
Tyler maybe you should blame Edmontons management.
This moron keeps saying predatory. Its in the cba, hes just butthurt its his team. Its all about bowman, no one respects him and good luck getting another team to help a guy who thinks SA is ok to not report. Theres your issue. Edmonton will be irrelevant in 5 yrs cuz no one wants to associate with an asshat gm.
With all due respect to Tylerโs comment about Torps, I think youโre marginalizing his opportunities. Sure, itโs not apples to apples in regard to Leon or Connor. But with the youth movement of the future Blues core, he has more possibilities than just playing with Torpo. Bolduc, Snuggerud, Stenberg, Dvorsky, Neighbours, and Lindstein, to name a few of the upcoming โpossibleโ coreโ of young players to play with and grow his game.
What's an offer sheet? (sorry I'm still new to hockey)
Players love it when other players get overpaid. They have no ill will towards players who sign big contracts at all.
These offer sheets were a work of art by the St.Louis Blues. They picked the best team to poach two good players from for cheap…
Oilers had too much fun spending money in free agency, they had basically no cap space left(only about $300k), and their plan was clearly to lowball Broberg and Holloway with garbage deals and this blew up in their face…
Looks like the summer everyone got signed before Pettersson and there was no money to sign him long term. Same here, the Oilers didnt really give the two a good opportunity the last two years and this summer signed everyone else thinking they could squese these two. I think it was a good signal to the Oilers and the league to take care of the right players first.
Bowman as a GM is a non factor I think, but it wouldnt have happened to Holland
