Predators top goaltender prospect Yarsoslav Askarov does not want to play in minors (trade request)

  1. He’s already spent 2 years in the minors and needs the playing time to keep developing. With Saros locked in for 8 years, Askarov either has to…

    – Continue to develop in the AHL and hoping for an injury to Saros to get some playing time in the NHL

    – Be a backup in the NHL and see a massive drop in minutes played (bad for his development)

    – Seek a trade to another team with less obstacles to playing in the NHL.

    Nashville is in win now mode and probably aren’t as focused on longterm development plans. If Askarov doesn’t see a path to playing in the NHL with Nashville, it’s understandable he’d want to play somewhere else.
