NJ Devils Should Be ALL OVER Yaroslav Askarov

NJ Devils Should Be ALL OVER Yaroslav Askarov

Former New Jersey Devils goaltender and NHL Insider Kevin Weekes reported earlier today that Nashville Predators goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov will not report to the Predators’ AHL club and wants a trade.

Askarov has been linked to the NJ Devils at times over the past 6 months or so.

Should Devils’ GM Tom Fitzgerald be working the phones right now?

Could Askarov be the New Jersey Devils goaltender of the future?

I discuss all of this and more in this video.

  1. Brodeur isn't getting rid of his buddy Allen. You wanted goalies right away and now you got them. Rushed temporary fix to what could've been a long-term solution. Smh. Word is Markstrom given his age is looking at nursing homes rather than houses in NJ.

  2. I think the Devils will pass on Yaroslav Askarov and trade Nathan Bastian, Nico Daws, Nolan Foote, Arseni Gritsyuk, a 2025 4th-rounder, and a 2026 conditional 5th-rounder to the Bruins for Jeremy Swayman if the Bruins don't sign Jeremy to a long-term contract extension.

  3. My concern with the idea of going after Askarov is what his re-signing price will be after this season as well as if he would be willing to spend this season in Utica. I just can't see NJ trading away Allen to put Askarov in his place, while ALSO having Daws waiting even longer in Utica. Would Askaraov turn into a pain in the ass to deal with when trying to get him to work with the team's plans. I would love to have him in the pipeline, absolutely. I just don't want to end up with another headache.
