  1. If I’m not mistaken Montreal also has 3 – 1st round, 3 second round, and 3 3rd round picks in the next two drafts(collectively)
    That’s great Trade bait.
Maybe (hopefully), the culture change will help Laine, but man that’s an expensive adventure.
He becomes the top paid player in Montreal

  2. That's literally one of the worst trades ever from CBJ

    A 40 goal scorer in his prime for a 7th / 8th defensemen and CBJ even tacked on a 2nd 😂

Biggest joke franchise in the league, in the space of a few years they turned PLD into Jordan Harris lol

  3. Adam can say whatever he wants, but tell me how or where the Leafs are any better than the Habs, I don't see it. Stay fairly healthy and I can see the Habs battling it out with the Leafs for a playoff spot.

  4. The Montreal Canadiens are closer to a Stanley Cup than the Leafs.
Just look at the trajectory….Leafs same top heavy team with questionable defense and goaltending.
Other than Cowan and Knives, they have zero prospects, especially on defense.
The Habs have a HUGE young core on the rise with a management team that gets it.
Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Dack, Newhook, Liane, Ghule Matheson, Wifi…and knocking on the door…Huston, Reinbacher, Logan M, Demidov.
    2 1st rounders in 2025
    3 2nd rounders in 2025
    2 3rd rounders in 2025.
These two are the ones smoking some questionable products.😂

  5. The dark cloud of Laine from Winnipeg to Columbus now to Montreal. Stuck with his nonsense for two years. I'm not looking forward to this.

  6. What the hell are the Habs doing Laine doesn’t care about Hockey anymore his head as gone! Very risky by Montreal! can he find his game again and score 30 goals again! Laine has had potential for ages but can’t get his head right!

  7. He was a crybaby in winnipeg. A diva in Columbus. I feel bad for Montreal honestly. Hope they don’t have any expectations for him. He doesn’t fit in anywhere. He gets points I guess. But there’s no cohesion. He doesn’t act like he gives a F. He’s only there for a check. That’s it. He won’t do anything there. Montreal won’t be doing anything again either. Sad. For Montreal. They think he’s going to improve their team. Yawn

  8. Hilarious that this joker thinks the firstthing that needs to be talked about is the salary..Laine is an elite player when healthy and motivated, which he is now

  9. The Habs get some potential high skill, but also a lot of potential drama in a young dressing room. Top marks for Wadell on this trade, getting it done without having to retain salary or use a 1st round pick as a porkchop tied around the neck of Laine's contract.

  10. If Dean Evason is half the coach he was in Minny, then Jordan Harris will be well worth such a price as Laine + A 2ND ROUND PICK?! My first thought was that the cost would get Waddell fired immediately because Harris is relatively unproven in the NHL. Thinking further about it though, Laine, though having the high end, high-scoring pedigree, has almost negative value at this point, given his cap hit and his history of attitude issues on each team he's played for. I'm starting to think this is a good deal for both sides. Not that MTL needs more top-40 draft picks.

  11. Best of luck to Laine, I hope he finds success and also peace of mind in Montreal. Last few years I haven't had many reasons to watch the Habs (I am a Rangers fan) but this season I will make a point of catching games on a second screen when I can!

  12. cole will be the casualty is Laine works out. he is getting bumped to the second line. if Laine works out, that means we are closer to the playoffs. hutson and Mailloux etc are spposed tobe better than what we had the last 2 years. so maybe a wildcard spot? that means the picks aren't going to be high picks that get you the demidovs or dachs or slafs…they will probably be 15-20ish and then you have to ask yourself if it's enough to contend … fans always say yes but realistically….it's doubtful

  13. Im kind of lukewarm on Laine, but considering he only has 2 years left on his contract…
…and that the Habs have too many young d man, it is worth a shot!
