Los Angeles Angels Fall to Royals 5-3, Chasing Wins or Development? Call-Ups to Make, Players to Go
The Los Angeles Angels couldn’t mount a comeback against the Kansas City Royals on Monday night, despite staying in the game and nearly getting a rally going at the end of the game. Logan O’Hoppe, Jo Adell, and Zach Neto helped keep the Angels on the board, but it was a rally-killing double-play from Brandon Drury that sealed the deal. It gets the Super Halo Bros. asking, is this Angel team chasing wins or development? We’ll share what we mean and provide examples from last night’s game.

At first I thought why did we bring up Victor Mederos from A+, dude had a 5 era in rocket city, but the dude was straight up filthy
In the off season the teams need to seriously talk about an automatic strike zone. The time has come we need to stop bad calls cost games. I totally agree Jon Drury needs to go and lets let Moore play 2B the rest of the season.
Talking about chasing wins vs. development, the Angels have not been last in the West and haven’t lost more than 90 games in the last 10 years because they refused to develop.. And in that time,
22 different teams have been last in their divisions and opted to rebuild and re-develop their team. Of those 22 teams, 18 of them have gone from last to making the playoffs within the last 10 years. 7 of those teams have even made it to the World Series (Rays, Phillies, Dbacks, Rangers, Braves, Red Sox, Cubs), and 4 of them have won the World Series (Rangers, Braves, Red Sox, Cubs) after starting over and rebuilding their team. Meanwhile, the Angels are that less than mediocre sub 500 team that does just enough to not be the worst of the worst team, and have the longest current playoff drought along with the other D student in their class, the Tigers.
I hope with what Wash and GMPM are FINALLY doing with development, this team will overcome this stupid and inept ownership and FINALLY compete in a couple of years. I'm just afraid Arte will mess it up and get rid of GMPM and Ron Washington after that fir coming in "last" place.
We are not going to win… we are years from being a good team. We do need to develop BUT how does bringing up young pitchers to get rocked in the big leagues useful? Why screw with their confidence? I think it affects pitchers more than position players struggling at the big league level.

I just finished a book about baseball that had an amazing quote that I think is so applicable to this team and its fans. "Rooting for a team doesn't mean that you need them to win; sometimes you just want to see them fight, do their best, or even just keep showing up." Lately, it feels like some of the guys just aren't showing up, and I would love to see some of the prospects get called up so they can get the chance to do that.
