Potential assist milestones in reach for the 2024-25 season

  1. Man put a trigger warning for Caps fans lol. Putting Backstrom on this list is absolutely vile. Besides him for obvious reasons everyone else on these lists should easily hit their milestones. I wonder if there’s any longer shots that are possible.

No one is particularly close to these milestones. Giroux needs 84 for 800, which won’t happen. Karlsson needs 72 assists to hit 700, which he is just 1 season removed from doing. But still, almost certainly won’t. Burns needs 74. Marchand needs 72 to hit 600. So everyone on this list minus Suter and Backstrom, but no one else will.

  2. It’s funky that McDavid and Ovi are chasing the same milestone šŸ˜ƒ Ovi has like 10 more seasons

  3. All but Suter seem like locks on the first page

Everyone but Backstrom seems like a lock on the second page

(Also absolutely absurd of McDavid that he possibly passes Ovi in career assists this season)

  4. Just another reminder that Evgeni Malkin is so **fucking** good. Heā€™s 2 assists away from 800 and 2 goals away from 500. Insane.

  5. So much Lightning āš”ļøāš”ļøāš”ļø (Stamkos still counts as a Bolt and Iā€™m not gonna even entertain an argument).

  6. Kucherov being on that list with some of those guys considering their relative draft years is insane lol

  7. Should’ve put McDusty’s name under the “needs X assists for 800” as well. If anyone can do it it’s him. (yes i’m aware that it’s 153 assists lol)

  8. All of those seem quite attainable, except for Backstrom. Which sucks, because he is/was such a great player and playmaker.

  9. I was wondering where Crosby was on the lists here, looked it up and heā€™s over 1000

  10. Backstrom has been invisible for probably 3-5 years. You sure he can do that? 38 points seems like a far more achievable goal and even then.

  11. Kuch is gonna get those 47 assists by like game 30 and no one will be surprisedĀ

  12. The way McDavid’s been going, he’ll reach 700 within a month of the season starting

  13. Hereā€™s my list of who i think hits their milestones first

    1. Malkin

    2. Ovi

    3. kopitar
(The top three seem pretty obvious given how little they need)

    4. Hedman

    5. Kucherov/Mackinnon ( i think they get it done in the same amount of games or extremely close to each other

    6. Mcdavid

    7. Letang

    8. Stamkos

    9. Tavares

  14. I know Ovi isn’t a playmaker and played his prime in a different era, but the idea that he and McDavid could both hit 700 assists in the same season is bonkers.
