Leafs will never win a cup with mitch marner
Here’s my bone to pick with the leafs organization and fans… they say Marner is soft. But then they sign Nylander to 11.5X8. They say Marner isn’t a playoff performer. But he has most PPG out of our core In the playoffs. They say Marner isn’t worth more money. But they give Willy a 5 mill a year increase when he’s only had one really good season. The fact of the matter is that Marner makes the players around him better. Point blank. Period. That’s what superstars do. Without Marner Tavares don’t get 47 goals hud first year as a leaf. Without Marner, Matthew doesn’t get 69 goals last season. And to be honest without Marner, the leafs probably don’t make the playoffs in our division.
So getting rid of Marner would be the biggest mistake this organization has ever made. The problem was giving Tavares as much as they did for as long as they did. And also, giving Willie as much as they did.

Treliving needs to extend Marner without a full no-trade clause, allow him to raise his value then trade him in the next off season for a stud Dman. Otherwise Marner walks and the Leafs get nothing.
Saying that you can sign a second line centre with the money left over from JT’s reduced contract next year is a ridiculous statement . Next year Joe Woll goes up by almost 3 mil, Matt Knies goes up a few million and if you resign JT at 4/5 mil, there’s your almost 11 mil of cap space gone.

I dont think marner is worth 12 mil at that payscale you are saying hes as good as mckinnon better than Kucherov better than Pastrnak better than Draisitl and as good as Mcdavid hes not in the coversation as being in that conversation if he wants to stay a leaf and allow the team to be competitive i think somewhere around what he makes now or a little bit less is worth it for him pastrnak took 9.5 to stay in boston kucherov took around 10 to stay in tampa and it is sounding like draisaitl will take between 10 and 11 to stay in edmonton and mcdavid said he would take a team friendly deal to keep edmontons cup window open this greed by the core needs to stop or they wont win a cup
