We face a rookie in week 1 – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were 1-11 against rookie QBs from 2011- 2017. Since Todd Bowles arrived in 2019, they’re 10-5

Saw this stat online, and apparently it came from Greg Auman, and I wanted to find the post or tweet to give credits, but I can't find it sooo the post can stay like this.

So, here are some stats of rookie QBs against us in recent history

  1. We’ve all got that trauma embedded in us haha

Bowles’ defenses have been pretty solid overall. Obviously having Brady for 3 of his 5 seasons here probably helped protect this record vs rookies too but still Bowles has done a pretty good job in that regard.

I’d be curious how our record vs backups compares too but I imagine it’s not too bad either.

  2. Probably a combination of the offense being much better with Brady here, plus Bowles’ schemes being blitz heavy which tends to rush or confuse rookies.

  3. 1-11 against rookie QBs is insane. I know we were bad but damn. At least now we’re losing to good rookies like CJ Stroud and Brock Purdy. Jayden Daniels is definitely a rookie we should beat.

  4. During the span from 2011 to 2017 our best record was 9 wins in 2016. All other seasons were under .500.

We probably had a lot of bad stat splits like that during that period.

It’s kind of like the under 40 degrees thing from way back. The team was super bad for like 25+ years, we didn’t win a lot in any temperature.
