General manager Kent Hughes is addressing the media following the acquisition of Patrik Laine and a second-round pick in 2026 from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

To me Laine probably didn’t want to be in a rebuilding culture. Montreal is really trying to win every night and get out of rebuilding asap and you can tell.
For those of you wondering, when Kent speaks French he's nowhere near his articulation as in English… why even bother?

Very good trade for both teams. Jordan Harris will become a very good defenceman. Funny, we might miss him. It's a Lekhonen type trade. But this time, the habs gets a great return.
Didn't give Harris for free…kept his assets….it was an offer that he couldn't refuse. Excellent trade!

As a Finn I always had a dream to see Laine in the Habs and now it really happened. Montreal is a mythical place for the Finns because we recognize it as the Mecca of Hockey. I'm super excited!! Laine seems to be super excited as well
It's good to remember that the shot, even at worst of worst, has been 12%+. There is a decent chance he rebounds and becomes important player of MTL.
If you want to go to the next level, you will need an elite assistant coach. Not a future coach….only an assistant and probably the best. Gallant. Think about it.
