Did the St. Louis Blues screw over the Edmonton Oilers?
A long week of offer sheet drama has finally come to a close, as both Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway’s offer sheets were not matched by the Edmonton Oilers. Leaving them with a 2nd and 3rd round pick in compensation. Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin break it all down on Oilersnation Everyday.
What do you think of the move not to match either young player?

It was Broberg and Holloway that fucked us! Our only job against the Blues is to run the both of them. MAKE IT HURT
Over paying for two players is just going to screw St. Louis in the long run. They won’t be isolated with elite talent and their true colours will show
Like the Toronto Maple Leafs, the bulk of the Edmonton Oilers payroll is reserved for a few core players. Full credit to Doug Armstrong. ✔️
The Oilers made the smart play of not overpaying for mid to bottom level talent. Good on Holloway and Broberg for getting paid. With the off season moves, I think Jackson basically filled those positions provisionally at the beginning of free agency with Arvidson, Skinner, Savoie, Brown and Stecher. The player in return for Ceci knows the coach and his system, the coach knows what he's capable of. I think the moves right now look bad but let's wait til mid November before we really judge these moves.
It hurts to lose PHILIP BROBERG who was on the rise in EDMONTON AND CONTRIBUTED SO MUCH TO OUR STANLEY CUP FINALS RUN. I will miss DYLAN HOLLOWAY. He was amazing to watch with speed and talent. But I don’t think they are worth the offer sheets by Armstrong. The BLUES are crafty but are still rebuilding. Holloway surprised me by accepting the BLUES OFFER-I thought he was happy as an OILER. He needs a new agent.,he made a HUGE MISTAKE LEAVING THE OILERS. BROBERG did so well and was key on our run to the FINALS BUT WE DID NOT GET IT DONE! We will replace HOLLOWAY AND DEFINITELY NEED TO REPLACE BROBERG AND ADD MORE TOUGH BLUELINE DEFENSE -we also need a defensive forward like the PANTHERS. Defense in today’s game win CUPS.
If BROBERG WAS UNHAPPY THEN the fault lies with KEN HOLLAND AND JAY WOODCRAFT THE FORMER HEAD COACH who could have used HOLLOWAY AND PHILIP BROBERG EARLY
We need to see an end to the ridiculous offer sheet rules
How disappointing…hopefully they both bust on St. Louis 😂
I really don't think St. Louis expected to have to pay up for both of those contracts. They might be the ones that end up screwed on the tail end of this.
2 guys who are going to regret walking away from the next Stanley cup champions. All the money in the world will never get you that prize and you just sold yourselves down the river
Don't know who screwed who almost I know is the oilers wont be as good as they were last season.
yes such a rookie move by the Oilers head office, they totally 💩'd the bed.
What a bloody joke
What i love about oilers fans always got a positive twist😂😂 GO PANTHERS
Meh, they fixed the holes left by them leaving.
A big reason why broberg is worth 4.58 is he was willong to stay at 1.8
Holloway is a headscratcher. I guess he felt he wouldn't get big opportunities with Skinner and Arvidsson signed.
7 mill between the two of them is too much for a team like the Oilers. The blues can risk it.
Also, Broberg didn't seem invested in staying, especially with his agent.
The Oilers r certainly mismanaged Broberg, don’t play him last year and now Vincent is not here anyway. Not a good look. I hope St. Louis gets what’s coming to them as well. I’m sure other managers like it too much either . managers working with players against other managers.
From a blues fan. Thanks😂

St Louis trying to get a young team going and those 2 kind of fit the description. They aiming to be competitive in a few years.
positive spin bud, love it!
The Oilers screwed the the Oilers
Emberson seems to be the perfect partner for Nurse tbh.
Nurse and Emberson will be the shutdown pair as Emberson played with Ferraro and held his own defensively. This is actually a good shrewd deal by Bowman.
The Oilers screwed themselves when they left themselves vulnerable to this. The players were lost as soon as the offer sheets were signed. This SHOULD have been prevented just based on asset management. Once it happened, they made the better move. If they are gonna spend $7 million over the cap, they should have gone after Skjei on July first. Not taking risks on two guys with small sample sizes and ‘potential’ future upside… Now they need to just move forward and look at players actually worth that much money. Especially if Kane does go on LTIR. Then they need to pull a Vegas/Colorado/Tampa Bay move and spend that money and have Kane be miraculously healed come playoffs!
Anything that humiliates Buttman and the franchise that actually rehired him. That guy is a disgrace to the NHL. Cheers, Blues(Pred here)
