  1. Notes From the Game:

+ SPENCER SCHWELLENBACH MAKING THE PHAILING PHILS SINGING THE BLUES! 6 2/3 Innings of 2-Run, 3-Hit Ball, Walking 1 and Striking Out 9 en route to VICTORY! Schwellenbach Improves to 5-6 with an ERA of 3.94! He hasn't been perfect, but He's Matured FAR FASTER than any Rookie Pitcher on this Braves' Squad!

+ THIS BULLPEN CONTINUES TO ROCK AND ROLL! Johnson and Iglesias Combine to SILENCE the Phillies over the final 2 1/3 Innings, Allowing Only 2 Walks and Striking Out 5! Rasiel Iglesias gets his 28th Save, STRIKING OUT HARPER, CASTELLANOS, AND STOTT STRAIGHT-UP TO SLAM THE DOOR ON THE PHILLIES' HANDS!

ROTATION TOTAL: 9 Innings, 2 Runs, 3 Hits, 3 Walks, 14 Strike Outs, NO Home Runs Allowed!

3-9 with Runners in Scoring Position…. But Only 3 Runs to Show for it, and 7 Men Left on Base… Seriously, Some of these games, WE SHOULD BE LOSING.

+ GIO URSHELA ADJUSTING TO THE ATL VERY WELL! 1-3 with an RBI Ground-Rule Double in 1st! Urshela holds onto a .245 Average with an OPS of .624!

+ OLSON CONTINUES TO GRIND! 1-4 with an RBI Double in the 3rd! Olson holds firm with a .227 Average an .727 OPS!

+ WHAT A NIGHT FROM DUUUUUUUUUUVALLLLLLLLL! 3-3 with Two Singles, and the GO-AHEAD, GAME-DECISIVE SOLO SUPER MISSILE INTO THE LEFT-CENTER FIELD SEATS! Duvall Steps Up to a .186 Average, .577 OPS, and 11 Home Runs on the Season!

    – OTHER NOTABLES: Michael Harris II, Whit Merrifield, Marcell Ozuna, Ramon Laureano, and Sean Murphy Each Notched 1 Hit. The ONLY Brave to Manage a Walk Tonight was Michael Harris II, which LITTERALLY HAPPENED ON THE FIRST AB. The ONLY Brave to go 0'fer was the One Phillies' Fans love to whip around, Orlando Arcia, who went 0-4 with 2 Ks.

+ ANOTHER STATEMENT WIN FOR THE BRAVES OVER OUR DIVISIONAL NEMESIS! SCHWELLENBACH WAS EXCELLENT, THE BULLPEN CONTINUES TO DO GREAT WORK, AND TIMELY HITS MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE! WHAT A SERIES FROM THE BRAVES!

+ With this Series Win, the Braves get a Game Closer to the Phils at 6 Games Back. The Mets are now 2 Games Back, but that could be as high as 2 1/2 or low as 1 1/2 pending their Game in San Diego.

+ My Statement Remains the SAME, Phillies Fans: TOMAHAWKS IN REAR-VIEW MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR! TWICE YOU'VE LOST TO US AT TRUIST… And to a Team that is INJURED TO HELL AND BACK! You DON'T hear us making Excuses. You DON'T Hear us Complaining or Feeling Sorry for Ourselves. WE TAKE OUR HITS AND GET RIGHT BACK UP! THE BELL HASN'T RUNG ON OUR SEASON YET, AND WE SURE AS HELL DON'T INTEND TO ABDICATE THE DIVISION CROWN OR OUR PLAYOFF HOPES WITHOUT A FIGHT! We'll See you at the Lying Bank Soon… I SURE HOPE FOR YOUR SAKE YOU QUICKLY FIGURE THINGS OUT.

    WHAT'S NEXT?

The Phillies will take flight for Kansas City for an Interleague Showdown with the Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Taijuan Walker will get the call for the Phillies, who HAS STRUGGLED SINCE RETURNING FROM THE IL. He took a No-Decision in his last start, Allowing 3 Runs on 4 Hits, Walking 3 and Striking Out 3 and being UNABLE TO FINISH the 5th!

Meanwhile, The Royals will call on Michael Wacha to Answer the Bell, Who has Pitched IMPRESSIVELY in the Month of August, Going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.89, which includes a MASTERFUL Performance against the Reds, Pitching 6 SHUTDOWN FRAMES and Allowing Just 1 Walk and 4 Hits while Striking Out 9, earning the VICTORY in the Process!

Can Walker and the Phils Correct Course after a Rough Showing in the ATL?

Or Will Wacha and the Royals make the Fightin Phillies feel WAKA LAKA?

We Will Find Out at 8:10 P.M. EDT / 7:10 P.M. CDT on NBC Sports Philadelphia (Phillies), and Bally Sports Kansas City (Royals)!

Well Washington, It hasn't panned out as much as I hoped it would.

Still, You're making GREAT STRIDES in your Rebuild: James Wood looks like a LEGIT CORNERSTONE, The Pitching looks like it's starting to figure things out, and Dave Martinez Continues to have this Team Locked in.

I'd say you're still on your way to being competitive again soon, so Let's See what you guys have got!

It's the Washington Nationals… AND YOUR ATLANTA BRAVES!

ROUND 1 OF 3 Between these FORMER WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS will take place under the Evening Skies of Truist Park.

MacKenzie Gore will Saddle Up for the Nats, Who hasn't had the Best of Luck in August, but is still battling it out. He's coming off a ROUGH Outing in Philly, where he allowed 5 Runs on 9 Hits, Walking 2 and Striking Out 6 in 5 2/3 Innings of Work, Taking a Loss as a Result.

Meanwhile, Chris Sale will take up Battle Stations for the Braves, who seeks to Continue his CY YOUNG CAMPAIGN! He's coming off a SOLID Outing against the Angels, Allowing Just 2 Runs on 6 Hits, Walking 2 and Striking Out 10 in Anaheim, Earning the VICTORY in the Process!

Can Sale and the Braves Start a Winning Streak and Open the Series against the Nationals with a Win?

Or will Gore and the Nationals have something in store for the Tomahawk Chop?

We Will Find Out at 7:20 P.M. EDT on MASN (Nationals) and Bally Sports Southeast (Braves)!

    SoundFX09, Signing Out!

  2. Schwellenbach… dealing. Retired 19 in a row at one point.
Urshela … defensive gem after defensive gem, plus a key clutch 2 out double to drive in the first run. Becoming a huge fan of Gio in a hurry.
Duvall … 3 for 3, 2 infield singles, then the ultimate deciding run with the 428 ft. Blast in the 6th inning.
Iglesias … straight filthy for the save striking out the side.
Great series win in a very good competitive series.

  3. a series win is a series win but 4 straight games scoring 3 runs or less? you're not going to catch them like that. you can't rely on the pitching to only give up 2 runs every game.

  4. If you showed me the lineup cards for this series and told me we would take 2/3 I would absolutely have taken it but man does it sting knowing a sweep was a very real possibility

  5. Bro Idk how we winning these games. And Gio Been clutch since we got him. Harris could get a bit aggressive on the bases. Our pitchers are just wheeling and dealing
