Haener is the safer bet. He’s got a year of experience, and even if he’s new to Kubiak’s system, he’s had a year under DA already and that usually holds a lot of weight, especially for backup QB where the hope is that he doesn’t actually have to play.
I think we’ll go into the season with Haener as the backup and Rattler as QB3. If Carr gets hurt, Haener subs in, but if he struggles I could see Rattler getting a chance.
I think backup QB is Haener’s to lose. Maybe Rattler pulls some amazing stuff out and he gets it, maybe Haener starts being utter trash and he loses it. But right now, I’d say Haener will likely be QB2. We still have one more preseason game, though.
