According to this video we underflate our home stats and have the most home penalties.

Logically (no idea if the stats back this up) but as the NHL has modernized and become a bigger and bigger business, the way in which they travel, the technology for staying connected to family at home, the upgrades in facilities league wide, the standardized size ice, etc… all have to have played a big part in this.

  3. This video while bringing up league wide trends hits home multiple times that some places hold advantages and some don’t. That is team dependent too. Certain players and groups enjoy different advantages. So year to year that is going to change. The compelling thing about the playoffs is that it’s the one time of the year in sports where the athletes get inside their bubble. When this happens, road games become easier. They are more focused on the task at hand. The comfortability of home no longer outweighs the travel and such because home actually has more distractions than the road.
