[Rapoport] The Broncos are expected to move on from respected 8-year veteran RB Samaje Perine, sources say. The team is engaged in a number of trade conversations around Perine and it could be a trade, rather than a release. A numbers crunch in the RB room, so he’s available in a trade.

  1. No, we don’t need a RB with 8 years of experience. They are broken and done at that point.

  2. Not sure how much Denver would get for him. But, if he’s released I’d love to have him rejoin.

  3. Bengals shouldn’t give up much for him but I liked what he did in this offense and I think hes good compliment to Moss/Brown.

  4. It’s probably a 7th round pick. I don’t know contract situation, but if he’s playing on a von bell (you pick up the tab) deal, then I’m all for it. Traveon Williams is fine but Perine is a major league insurance policy.

  5. I’m not sure why they would bring back Perine. Other than familiarity with the offense and pure depth, he doesn’t provide much more than what they already have. If he had stayed witht he Bengals, he’d probably be a prime candidate to be cut here. At least with Trayveon, they have a guy who can play special teams and return kicks.

  6. Maybe a waiver claim, but a lower one. Frankly, everything valuable we lost when he left is now on this team, arguable with better overall upside and we have bigger needs at other positions that need a higher waiver priority.

    Pass protection? Zach Moss

    Veteran leadership? Moss and Williams

    Pass catching ability? Chase Brown

That said, you could do a hell of a lot worse at RB3 or 4
