I really don’t get why we waived him in the first place then. We had him under contract for multiple years on non-guaranteed money. The 1 year deal now means he will be a FA and can’t be traded without his permission.
I can only see 2 reasons.
1 Money. By resigning him to a 1 year vet min deal the league pays half his salary. I am not sure if he has enough years of service for this but for this scenario I will assume he does.
2 something to do with potential RFA. Since this will be his 3rd year in the league does this mean he will be tagged a RFA? For his age I would have preferred to keep him on his original deal
