Now that the Montréal Canadiens have Patrik Laine, they could potentially have one the best power plays in the NHL this upcoming 2024-2025 season. When Laine gets the confidence back in his shot, his one timer could make him be one of the best power play players in the NHL once again. The Habs will also have a great 2nd power play unit as well. This is something that they have not had in a while. This is why I think that the Montréal Canadiens will have more wins this season.

  1. That powerplay line awesome. But 5 on 5 we still dont have any elite play maker, i hope Demidov become true no 1 center but we have no true no 1 center yet

  2. Nah there isn’t a world were they put caufield on the second unit he’s still young but already an elite goal scorer and shooter no hate though go Habs go!!!!

  3. PP won't be scary unless they shoot the puck. Seen too many seasons where they keep passing the puck around and no shots taken; then, somebody loses it. No goals if you have no shots.

  4. If you can get your second PP unit to be as scary as the first, you make it easier to have a constant pressure situation… you end up with 1A and 1B and always have a good chance at getting one in.

  5. As a Finn I always had a dream to see Laine in the Habs and now it really happened. Montreal is a mythical place for the Finns because we recognize it as the Mecca of Hockey. I'm super excited! Laine seems to be super excited as well

  6. There is going to be a lot of movement on this PP. Hutson and Xhekaj manning the second PP point, there are so many options, but setting up Xhekaj for the bomb will be impressive.

  7. On the second unit I’m putting Xhekaj at the point instead of Anderson, Newhook at centre as opposed to Dvorak and Armia on the wing because he finished the season strong last year.

  8. A couple of years ago, EDM and PIT with their goat tier level talent were terrible on the PP. It might happen to the HABS as well.

Slaf is big but he's not a net front presence on the PP. It's not his style. Caufield might get fewer minutes on the PP and eventually move to the second line. Chances are Dach doesnt last the season. BY the end of the season, if Laine gets his footing, Cole will be shit on by the media.

If Laine plays like he can, Habs will be a wildcard team. The quality of prospects will not be the same on draft day. Is this group of players good enough to compete for the cup? Doubt it. Maybe if we get rid of Gallagher /John /Price contracts and use that smartly but free agents don't usually come to the 514. Improvements will have to come via trade which means some of the prospects we are drolling over will no longer be on the team. Anything can happen when you make the playoffs and HAbs have done that twice in their last two runs but team 's future isn't as good as we like to think.

Sure , we see some articles about best prospects in the league but if you look at those authors and their predictions, they haven't been the best. WIngs have had the top 3 in 2020 and almost half a decade later, they're a wildcard team.

  9. If you watched all the Habs games Matheson does not QB the PP well. He only utilizes the left side allowing the D to play 4 on 4 ignoring the open Slaf.

  10. If Hutson shows he can drive the bus on the 2nd PP I’d quickly move him to the first, Matheson was there all last year, how Liane changes that is yet to be seen

  11. I wanted laine to come to Montreal as bad as anyone, maybe more! lol, BUT, to think he is going to bring our powerplay from the bottom of the barrel to the top 10, Im sorry man, it's not going to happen, not that easily, or quickly. Next year, when we have Demidov, Laine, Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky, Newhook, Hutson and Matheson, THEN we might have one of the top ten pp's in the league! But i cant see it this year, that doesn't mean it isn't gonna happen, for sure, just my opinion, i think our pp will be about 15th, middle of the pack, small steps, as long as they're forward steps!

  12. That 1st powerplay unit is looking crazy good. Slaf and Laine are a good tandem on the sides, both big, can take space for themselves and elite shots
