Pronman from Athletic: Wild Ranked #10 in NHL Pipeline

Paywall content via Athletic, so bear that in mind.

Biggest takeaway is the belief Buium and Faber could be just absolute beast top line defensemen. Rossi, Yurov, and Wallstedt both filling out as potential top guys. It's pretty telling he rates Heidt pretty dang low, given his offensive ability. Other than that, no real surprises.

  1. Lets just hope 97 isnt on his way out the door when these guys start putting up numbers. As a 21 year wild fan(yes,’03) I’m not sure I’m covinced our G tandem will be as good as its gonna need to be. We need a dominant C thats gonna selke status and another one to win faceoffs. Trust me, I love Ek, but this team needs him to be a 3rd line C if minnesota wants to bring the cup home. Very hopefull for the Buium/fabes powerhouse in D with Brodin support. I could be wrong

  2. Regarding Heidt, you can teach defense at any level; it’s tough to teach a scoring touch on the offensive side. Let the rest of the world sleep on the young man. Hope he goes back to juniors this season and just tears it up; it’s highly unlikely this MN Wild team goes far this season so let Heidt develop one more year.

  3. Pronman is really weird about certain prospects. He’s always been really low on Heidt, and it doesn’t seem to matter to him how impressive Riley looked, he’s decided that he’s not going to ever be an NHLer. To put Charlie over him is crazy to me. I can understand the ranking heading into the draft, though most scouts had Riley higher than him, but after the year that both of them had, it seems crazy to me to have Stramel over Heidt.

  4. He ranks Chicago and SLC above us. I don’t think Chicago can rebuild fast enough to block us again, but SLC probably can if they hit their picks and make smart moves.
