To Greg’s point about “no small forward has ever scored a goal 5 feet from the net” (which I’m aware was very sarcastic) literally noted not big forward Bedard outmuscled noted big defender Hedman to score in November. Size is only a factor if the player makes it a factor
I want Nazar to be a tremendous player for the Hawks for a decade plus and he should be higher than 14th. That's too low for sure, but I think he's in between the CHGO consensus at 3/4 and 17. He does have a few more flags than I thought a year ago. Consistent play night in night out will be key for Nazar (and most rookies). Multi 3 point games vs the Lindenwood/Stonehill games are good. At the WJC his 4 assist night against Switzerland is good too. Those easier opponents and the allure of the ultra high ceiling are probably inflating his overall stature a bit. I would have liked to see him stay in UofM 1 more year to be "The guy" and have a larger role as a leader being asked to do more in pressure situations. He did have some great plays and great moments. No doubt. Most nights he was not THE driving factor of a game. It was McGroarty/Brindley. I'm not a huge fan of plus minus, but when on the same team…(2) +17s vs a -7. A bit of a shocking difference to keep an eye on in the future. He could use a full 2 years in Rockford.
