Rafer Alston easily takes this category with KLow coming second! Now, who’s the best Shooter for the Raptors?

The comment with most upvotes wins, any player from Raptors history can be selected and a player can win more than one category (please don't take this as serious, it is just a chance to have an healthy discussion ☺️)

  1. Jason Kopono. The guy was absolute money. At one point during his Raptor’s tenure he literally had the best career 3pt% (minimum 250 makes) at 46%.

  2. Kawhi and not even close. His championship season was automatic in every single game. Reminded me of prime KD

  3. Lowry is 1st all time in 3 pointers made by a very wide margin. He has 1,518 while Fred is 2nd with exactly 1,000. So I would say Lowry.

  4. 3-Pt Field Goal Pct
    1. Matt Thomas .457
    2. Danny Green .455
    3. Jason Kapono .447
    4. Mike James .442
    5. Steve Novak .426
    6. Anthony Parker .424
    7. Matt Bonner .421
    8. Donyell Marshall .410
    9. Lamond Murray .406
    10. Tracy Murray .406

    Here are some options

  5. Donyell marshall! Dude held the the 3 pointers in a game record (tied with kobe) until the GSW 3 pt show started

  6. This is probably the hardest to quantify because…well, there’s a ton of factors to consider.

    * **How much does one factor in the era a player played in or general volume of their shooting?**
    * As an example, Dell Curry is a good candidate on paper since he shot 39% on his 3-points…but he only did so for less than 3 3s which, while a decent volume for a roleplayer in the late 90s/early 00s, pales in comparison to how much players shoot 3s nowadays.
    * See also: José Calderón has some of the most impressive individual shooting seasons from outside but even his best season – 46.1% from 3 – was on less than 4 3s a game
    * **Where does one put the most value in being the best shooter from i.e. the best midrange shooter, the best 3 point shooter, etc.?**
    * A bucket is a bucket and if you can get a shot of effectively from the midrange, you are by definition a good midrange shooter. Same goes in the paint, from outside and so on.
    * Example: DeMar was never a great 3-point shooter outside (He might have hot streak here and there but seasonwide, he was under league average) but he was amongst the best in the league from the midrange at his peak despite midrange shots being the least valuable in comparison to 3-pointers and post shots
    * **How much do you factor in consistency?**
    * Fred VanVleet at his peak has a strong argument given his high volume of 3-pointers but he could be very inconsistent from outside in the regular/postseason (Compare: The 76ers series in 2019 where he shot single digits from 3 [7% on 2 attempts!] vs. the Bucks series [57.1% on 4.7 attempts] or the Finals [40% on 6.7 attempts])
    * See also: Gary Trent Jr.; Trent is statistically one of the most impressive 3-point shooters – especially when one leaves him wide open – but any Raptors fan who has watched him play from game-to-game knows how hot and cold Gary Trent Jr. could be from outside
    * **How many seasons matter? And what about the postseason?**
    * An individually impressive season is worth noting but at some point there’s a cutoff between that and a player who might have a lesser volume/shooting % who managed to do so throughout multiple seasons
    * Example: In the 2007/08 postseason, Jason Kapono shot a scorching 54% from 3 on nearly 5 attempts. An impressive showing that he did not repeat,
    * His regular season as a Raptor, while very respectable as he shot 44.7% from 3, was on low volume at 2 per game and only for 2 seasons
    * See also: Danny Green shot 46.5% from outside on 7.9 attempts per game in the regular (34% in the postseason) and he left along with Kawhi after the championship. A notable season but only one season.

I think this comes down to two players: Kyle Lowry and Vince Carter – and I give the slight edge to Lowry (Con’t)

  7. Greatest shooter is KLow due to his consistently great shooting at high volume for basically his whole tenure but *best* is probably Kapono. Honorable mentions to Donyell Marshall, Mo Pete, Danny Green, and Dell Curry.

  8. Kawhi is the only answer because whenever you needed a bucket, you knew he was taking the shot and he was going to score.

Bonus points for scoring the most iconic basket in Raptors history.

  9. The only answer here is either Danny Green or Lowry, depending on how you grade it. Danny had the highest 3P% for a single season with a much higher volume than Kapono. Lowry the higher 3P% over multiple seasons out of him, FVV and Mo Pete and leads the franchise for most 3s made. I could maybe accept FVV since he has the record for most 3s in a single season.
