Because while his 4.44 ERA is bad, his advanced numbers are even worse. They are by far the worst numbers in his career.
For example:
* His xERA is 5.15, his previous career worst was 4.39. * His xBA is .274, his previous career worst was .256. His career average is .239. * His xSLG is .458, his previous career best was .432. His career average is .389. * His xwoBAcon is .410, his previous worst was .379. His career average is .360.
Meanwhile last year was the best in his career by advanced numbers (3.11 xERA, .225 xBA, .342 xSLG and .326 xwoBAcon). So it’s extremely sudden.
I remember that weird incident a year or two ago about a foreign substance on his ears. And it was just some like….hot shit to keep him focused right? Is that legal still, does he still do that?
