  1. lol, I guess he missed an opportunity to steal on his first single so he is making it up by stealing twice.

  2. He just kind of decided to start hitting more homers and stealing more bases and has been absurd at both since the all star break

  3. 92% steal percentage. I think we can safely say he gets to 50, if healthy. The 6 HRs are gonna be the main obstacle.

  4. He’s 46/50. Stolen base rate of 92%.

He doesn’t just steal bases; he’s also very efficient at it.

  5. crazy, just a few weeks ago I thought 50/50 was too far out of reach…. now? 60/60 is too far… right?

  6. Crazy that he was able to steal third base with his gigantic balls dragging in the dirt behind him.

  7. I went to the Friday and Saturday game of this series. I was simultaneously in awe and livid every time he was on the field lol.

  8. He’s gonna get 29/30 1st place MVP votes. The one other vote will be the NY sportswriter.

  9. Question.. why does the defender need to touch the runner on a steal attempt but when a batter hits into a double play only the base needs to be touched?

  10. Even when he doesnt pitch, he is still the mvp. Unreal performance we are so lucky to get to see this. 🙏🏼

  11. Glad my team is helping out Shohei so much, it’s making this series much easier to deal with 😅

  12. Okay so he has steals in the bag, i’d bet more on him getting 4 steals in a game then getting less than 4 for the rest of the year

  13. There’s a coach standing inside the LAD dugout just holding an enormous green circle that says “50” in the center of it at this point.

  14. Was v happy when he signed w the dodgers but this season he has been such a joy. Better than I could have imagined. Wish our pitching staff could get healthy before the playoffs though

  15. Picking Ohtani’s best season is going to be wild.

    2021: 46 HRs, 26 SB, 157 OPS+, 156 pitching strikeouts, 141 ERA+ over 130.1 IP

    2022: 34 HRs, 11 SB, 144 OPS+, 219 pitching strikeouts, 172 ERA+ over 166 IP

    2023: 44 HRs, 20 SB, 184 OPS+, 167 pitching strikeouts, 144 ERA+ over 132 IP

    2024: a chance at 50/50, 176 OPS+

The idea that the same person can strikeout 219 batters in 166 innings and then just decide to easily be a 40/40 hitter when he’s not pitching just doesn’t seem real.
