[John Harper] Verlander struggling since return from IL, only 71 ip for season, so Mets off the hook for $17 mil in ’25. Scherzer on IL again, only 39 ip. Cohen’s decision to eat money/move on from both last year paved the way for ’24 success, with Stearns’ smart signings of Severino/Manaea.

  1. I can’t say I was thrilled that the FO basically called a mulligan halfway through last season, but full credit where it’s due

  2. With how good the team is playing do you think they regret not going all in at the deadline? NL is wide open

  3. This is neither here nor there, but Verlander, Scherzer, and Kershaw all looking cooked simultaneously is some definite end of an era shit.

  4. Gotta say I would never have expected to see “smart signing” and “Manaea” used in the same sentence.

  5. I said the exact same thing in the Mets sub. This guy is stealing comments from the Mets sub

  6. To see Kershaw, Verlander, and Scherzer losing to Father Time is sad…

Kershaw and Verlander – I could see happening. But not Scherzer, I would imagine him staring down Father Time with a broken nose and black eye before his body starts to regress.

    Getting old isn’t fun.

  7. Mets are going to have a ton of room to maneuver in the off season, but they’re also going to need pretty much an entire starting rotation

  8. How last years clusterfuck turns into being just half a game back from the wild card this year is incredible. I wish a division rival would stay in the clusterfuck, but it would be incredibly humorous if the Mets knocked the Barves out of the playoffs
